About this trip

Escape with Amy Rizzotto and Becky Paris to Lake Atitlan, a magical crater lake located in the heart of Guatemala. This retreat will provide you with the perfect opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of life, and explore a remote part of the world that will open your heart and your perspective to what could be.

The trip begins with an overnight stay in the beautiful, colonial city of Antigua, where the group will assemble, and your first taste of life in Guatemala will be enjoyed. We will then make our way to Isla Verde, a unique and beautiful lakefront retreat center with a laid back vibe.

Our days will include daily (and always optional) Yoga & Bootcamp classes with Amy & Becky, delicious locally sourced meals, as well as plenty of time for relaxation, rejuvenation and reflection amongst the energetic vortex that is Lake Atitlan.

Outdoor lovers will have the opportunity to partake in many adventurous activities throughout our week including kayaking, hiking, and stand up paddle boarding. We will also have plenty of opportunity to experience the ancient Mayan culture of Lake Atitlan, and give back by volunteering at a local preschool. Boat rides are readily available to visit neighboring villages where you can take in some amazing people watching, local foods, markets, and some of the best textile and arts shopping in Central America.

Come experience the magic of Guatemala with an amazing group of people! This trip will change your life... if you let it. :)

About Your Instructors:

Amy Rizzotto, Owner and Founder of Move Well DC, is a studio owner, yoga instructor (E-RYT Power Vinyasa Yoga, Mindful Yoga Therapy, Rocket Yoga, and Budokon Yoga), certified nutrition coach, health blogger and wellness entrepreneur.

Voted one of Washington, DC’s top three yoga teachers in the City Paper’s 2017 “Best of DC Reader Poll,” Amy continues to branch out bringing yoga to offices, studios, private homes and event venues throughout the metro area, as well as offer multiple international retreats per year.

Amy incorporates many styles into her creative classes and one-on-ones, including Power Vinyasa, Yoga for Athletes, Rocket Yoga, Mindful Yoga Therapy and Budokon. Students can expect powerful and therapeutic poses linked thoughtfully in sequences designed to strengthen the body, steady the mind and uplift the spirit.

As a nutrition coach, personal chef and yoga instructor, Amy is dedicated to creating a synergy of movement, awakened eating, and mindfulness for total wellness. Her ultimate goal is to inspire and equip people to discover their own unique path to long-term mind-body health and happiness.

Becky Paris is a music-loving, profanity-speaking, southern lady with very little drawl but a lot of hospitality. Her love for yoga has changed the way she approaches herself, her loved ones and the world she lives in, and she thinks it's for the better. Her classes are heavily influenced by her personal practice of Ashtanga yoga, where the asana is athletic and the movement is methodical and mindful.

Becky's classes are taught from the heart, honoring the teachings that have and are still being passed down to her by her teachers, but she likes to keep it light, too. Learning to observe our own patterns and responses is immensely deep work, so being able to do it with a sense of levity makes the process feel more balanced. Equal parts grace and grit, warm and wry; sthira and suhka (effort and ease).

Becky completed Mimi Rieger’s 200 hour Power Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training in January 2014. She assisted this program for the following 3 years. Becky is also trained in Yin Yoga (50 hour training under Yael Flusberg), Mindful Yoga Therapy (Yoga for trauma) and Kids Yoga. Becky can be found practicing yoga in the Mysore tradition under the guidance of Michael Joel Hall.

The trip was fantastic and rejuvenating. All were helpful and accommodating.
A life-changing experience! Accommodations were great, food was amazing and the retreat was incredible. So grateful for both Heidi and Gretchen’s work as well as Kristen and Ian. You made it an awesome adventure!
Hi Kristin and Ian, Just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed the Nicaraguan GPY retreat and how impressed I was at the way you took care of all of us. The whole trip exceeded my expectations from top to bottom. Best wishes on upcoming trips. Perhaps you'll see me again with Gretchen and Nora on our next adventure. I look forward to recommending Solseed Retreats to any of your clients. Charity Folk

Excellent! Clean, delicious food in a remote setting that prioritized natural habitat over human luxury. It was a funky bungalow wonderland carved into the side of a hill overlooking a dramatic ocean vista. Turtles hatching, whales cruising by, monkeys feeding, cows on the beach, pelicans diving, are all straight up part of the scene at costa dulce. We did yoga looking out onto the deliciousness and then got first rate massage. No need to leave the compound, but when we did, it was an easy drive to the city for some culture and shopping. We surfed, hiked, fished, paddle boarded, salsa danced and sunbathed in our spare time. Surf was up, fun waves and a wonderful constant breeze made the warmth delightful. Solseed founders Kristin and Ian were on hand to ensure excellent service and offer many choices of excursions (I chose the city visit which included a stop at statue of Jesus de la Misericordia and zip lining). Their inside knowledge of the country and its people, their contacts with conscientious local providers and their enthusiasm made the trip a total success. This is my true paradise and I am still high from the experience. Lets hope America or capitalism doesnt get its hands on Costa Dolce or Nicaragua. If they do, I am confident Solseed will be exploring new pristine locations that maintain the integrity of their business!
The trip was wonderful. The resort was fantastic - great food and accommodations. The activities were fun and well-planned. Mollie is such a great spirit and her love of others is contagious! I loved all the dancing and play that was incorporated in the trip. Thank you!
