      About this trip

Escape with JQ Williams and Aubry Marie to Lake Atitlan, a stunning crater lake located in the heart of Guatemala.

This retreat will provide you with the perfect opportunity to escape the reality of life, and explore a remote and safe part of the world that will open your heart and your perspective to what could be. A listening to yourself, your breath, and to nature will be supported by both JQ, Aubry and this magical location during your week at the lake.

Our trip begins with an overnight stay in the colonial city of Antigua, where the group will gather. You'll have time to explore the unique architecture and funky boutiques of Antigua prior to gathering for a group dinner that evening. We will then make our way to Lomas de Tzununa, a lakefront hotel with a relaxing vibe, and stunning views of Lake Atitlan.

Our days will include daily yoga classes & workshops led by both JQ and Aubry, locally sourced meals, and plenty of time for relaxation amongst the stunning hillside grounds of Lomas de Tzununa and Lake Atitlan. Our hotel features an on-site pool, temazcal sauna, and restaurant / lounge area, all available for you to enjoy!

Love to stay busy? Your week will include opportunities for kayaking, hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, horseback riding, zip lining, and cooking classes. Boat rides are readily available to visit neighboring villages and experience local food, markets, and some of the best textile and arts shopping in Central America.

Come experience Guatemala with an amazing community of like-minded people!

A non-refundable deposit of $500 is required to reserve your space on this retreat. Your trip balance is due 120 days out from the retreat start date. If you would like to set up a payment plan for your trip balance, please email info@solseedretreats.com.

      About Your Leaders

JQ is a warm and energetic teacher whose aim is to build conscious and supportive communities through movement and mindfulness. She loves backbends and arm balances and has a strong practice, but her secret love is the depth of her restorative practice. Her classes are always different, providing a variety of ways to access the poses through flow, alignment, and inquiry. Each class will hold a surprise, a unique twist or turn that keeps students constantly learning and growing.

Having a background in dance, gymnastics and pole vault taught her to value the technical aspects of the poses and alignment.  The deeper practices of yoga have taught her about the subtle body, emotional body and spiritual connection the poses bring.  With over 29 years of different movement practices, her kinesthetic awareness is diverse and deep. Certified as a 500hr e-RYT, and Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider®, your hours retreating with JQ count towards continuing education as a yoga teacher.

For those enrolled in a 200 hour YTT, JQ is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider® and retreat hours can be applied to the 70 hour Yoga Alliance continuing education requirement.

Aubry's roots are in vinyasa and you may end up moving together, but she’s way more interested in how you feel.

She has completed two 200hr Vinyasa Yoga Teacher trainings as well as a recent Primal Yoga training, her newest, most potent medicine.

Primal flow incorporates Buti inspired core activation, breathwork, and meditative flows that release you from your tensions through static shakes and dance. She says, "It's a way of reconnecting with what your ancestors [and the cells of your body] have known all along."

Outside of asana her true loves include meditation, Bandha exploration and Breathwork- because these are the practices that are most impactful in her life, and she's excited to share them with you! Some other practices you'll have the opportunity to explore with Aubry include backbends, and cohosted workshops on inversions, acro yoga and partner stretching.

      Flight Parameters

Please make sure you adhere to the following flight parameters in order to take advantage of our included airport transfers:

You will be flying into Guatemala City airport (GUA) on Saturday, March 12th.

We will be shuttling people from the airport to our hotel in Antigua, and from there you will have the afternoon and early evening to explore the city. We will gather for dinner around 6pm, so please book a flight that arrives into GUA by 4pm at the latest if you want to join the group dinner.

Please note that one of our SolSeed representatives will be greeting you at the airport on March 12th, and will be there from roughly 11am - 4pm helping shuttle people to Antigua. If you arrive prior to or after that time frame, it's not a problem. We can help arrange a transfer for you, but please note it will run you $10 - $45. Uber is also available in Guatemala City, and is a safe and easy way to get to Antigua. If you want more time to explore Antigua, we recommend booking a flight that gets in earlier in the day, as we will be departing for Lake Atitlan early Sunday morning.

For your return flight, please book flights out of GUA that depart no earlier than 12pm on Saturday, March 19th in order to take advantage of our included transfer. If you book an earlier flight, you will be responsible for paying for an additional transfer from Lake Atitlan to the airport, which can run up to $150.

Angela and acandance are amazing! I love all of their retreats, and this was a memorable experience for me. The location was breathtaking. But the food was very limiting, the 400 stairs should’ve been added in the trip info and the scorpions in the room made it imposible to sleep in.

I had a wonderful time. The location, the Essaouira Lodge, was awesome: Beautiful bungalow, walk distance to the yoga outdoor arena, dining area, swimming pool...and quick ride to the Medina. The food was interesting and delicious...every meal a new experience! Best of all, was doing daily, breath, yoga and MELT sessions with Joyce and Rudy...and meeting a lot of really great folks and forging new friendships.
