Tanzania is a place that is accessible to any type of traveler and is perfect for the first-time traveler to Africa.

Straight out of the pages of a National Geographic Magazine, Tanzania offers ordinary people the chance to live like an explorer. This story-book journey is a combination of game drives through wildlife parks, and cultural experiences with tribal people who are living the same way their ancestors have lived here for centuries.

The adventure begins in Arusha National Park and follows the Northern Circuit which encompasses the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, Serengeti National Park, and Lake Eaysi, and Tarangire National Park. We will explore wooded savannas, grasslands, and highland forest. Lodges are 4-star with delicious food and comfortable accommodations within the parks and protected areas. You may wake to the sounds of roaring lions. – No joke.

The magic of Tanzania, and the stuff of legends, is the Serengeti. As you drive through the vast expanse of grassland in a 4×4 safari jeep, you might find yourself humming tunes from the Disney cartoon, The Lion King.  Massive herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles travel a route considered one of the largest migrations in the world. You may even find yourself getting a little teary-eyed at the intangible beauty you are witnessing.

Equally as impressive as the game parks and conservation areas is the interaction you will have with tribal communities like the Maasai, Hadzabes, and Datoga tribes. From pastoral nomads to traditional hunter-gatherers, you will feel like you have stepped in a time machine taking you back centuries as you learn about each tribe and participate in dancing and other cultural activities.

      Trip Highlights:

      • Experience  Semi-Luxury Safari Tent Camping in the Serengeti National Park and a variety of other unique lodges near national parks and conservation areas.
      • Go to sleep and wake to the sounds of the wild Serengeti.
      • Be moved as you witness one of largest migrations on Earth of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles.
      • See big cats including prides of lions and elusive leopards, and stealthy cheetahs.
      • Enter the Ngorongoro Crater, a 25 km wide dormant-volcano-bowlful-of-30,000-animals.
      • Dance with the Maasai, exchange stories with the Datoga women, and learn to shoot bow and arrows with the Hadzabe.
      • Explore the Olduvai Gorge, a site which influenced what scientists know about human evolution.
      • Opportunities for shopping for indigenous African handcrafts, Tanzanite, and art.

The Green Edventures Roatan trip was absolutely 100% one of my favorite trips I have ever experienced. The accommodations were perfect. Every bungalow had its own deck jutting out into the crystal clear sea. The wildlife interactions on this trip were absolutely phenomenal sea turtles, sloths, dolphins. Did I mention the SLOTHS?! Snorkeling the Mesoamerican Barrier reef was an experience I will never forget. The Anthony’s Key staff and our phenomenal trip leader Kelly bent over backwards for us daily, which is no easy task! You could really tell everyone involved loves their job and was truly happy to help. I appreciated the educational aspect, learning about the reef and fish and our impact as humans on both. The capstone activity was zip lining which was an absolute blast and the views were breathtaking. I wish I could go on this trip over and over again!

The trip to Roatan was wonderful. Our trip leader ,Kelly, was very accommodating, , kind and so helpful. The accommodations and employees at Anthony's Key Resort were amazing. The snorkeling was great ! I was not in love with snorkeling before, but this trip changed my mind... warm water, beautiful fish and reefs. Our snorkel guide,Jennifer, shared her knowledge on fish, reefs, and snorkeling. I would highly recommend this trip !!

Overall I think it was a good trip. The accommodations, food, and weather were perfect. The local people were very friendly and helpful. The snorkeling activities were enjoyable, but you could see the reefs were suffering from some degradation. The tour of the island was interesting but very long - 5 1/2 hours in the van was too much. Swimming with the dolphins was the highlight of the trip for me. Bugs (noseeums) were bothersome. Our trip leader did a good job of managing 16 people. She was kind but sometimes overwhelmed which made her unable to accept suggstions about little changes that people thought would make things better.

Roatan was another fabulous trip! Resort staff went out of their way to give us the best experience ever. Kelly was our trip leader extraordinaire. Something fun for everyone. Green Edventures is just my kind of touring group. I’ve gone on at least a dozen trips with them and never had a complaint about anything. Terrific activities, learning opportunities, wonderful travel destinations, always great food and excellent staff. The dollar to fun ratio is always better than going with anyone else and that’s why I keep going back to them.

The March 2024 Hot Springs and Wellness Retreat to Iceland was amazing. GreenEdventures ran this winter trip; it was a quieter and cozy side of Iceland with a mix of small local lodging and restaurants and larger places as well. The volcanic landscape and the sea and fjords were beautiful. We swam outside natural pools and spas every day while we experienced the winter serenity, and sometimes her fury. The spa time also gave us a chance to interact with Icelanders. And our daily meditation and reflection provided personal insights. The pre-trip information, including gear, was complete and timely and GreenEdventures readily answered any question. This was my second GreenEdventures trip and I would not hesitate to book another. Trips are varied: women only like this one, mixed group, school age, and private tours. Tara Short (the owner/trip leader) researches the local guide(s) and has excellent relationships with them. That is one of the outstanding aspects of her trips and her company. She also gets to know each of the travelers on her trips. Most of the women on this trip had traveled with GreenEdventures previously. https://greenedventures.wetravel.com/trips/iceland-2024-spring-equinox-hot-springs-mindfulness-retreat-green-edventures-eco-tours-safaris-akureyri-14105617

I went on an amazing trip with Tara to Baja, Mexico in 2020. This was a dream trip for me being a wildlife lover. It was incredible to be able to swim with whale sharks and sea lions and get up close with gray whales. Camping on the beach was amazing. We had a great group of women and everyone vibed well and all of the tour guides including Tara, Alex and Chabello were so fun, friendly and helpful every step of the way. The food was great at the campsite and at the restaurants we got to try. When our trip plans initially got derailed waiting on a negative Covid test and we had to get a different flight, Tara did everything in her power to accommodate us and make sure we got to enjoy every part of the trip, including setting us up with another whale shark swimming tour after we had missed the initial one with the group, and she spent time waiting for us to finish before leaving for the airport. I definitely recommend Green Edventures, especially the Baja Mexico trip!

I just returned from the Wisconsin Women's Tour and couldn't have asked for a better trip! For me, the amount and type of activity were perfect. Who know there was so much to discover practically in my own backyard?
