Brief Orientation by a Hausa Tours Staff. After orientation, you would proceed for a full day tour of Accra; visit the National Museum of History and Ethnography to observe exhibits that reflect the heritage of Ghana through-out history to the present. Visit the W.E.B. DuBois Center, Museum of Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, the Arts and Crafts market and the Makola Market, Accra’s biggest open-air market. Drive through Old Accra which was divided into Dutch and British Accra as a result of the two European nations operating from different locations within the same township of a little under 1sq kilometer. Stop at the Independence Square, Accra’s open-air ceremonial grounds where all national celebrations are held, for photo opportunity. Enjoy a welcome dinner with traditional entertainment including an exhibition by tailors and dressmakers who design casual wear and formal garments that are made from local fabric and textile.

Depart for a scenic drive through the winding Akuapem Ridge to Awukugua, the native home of the famous legendary priest, Okomfo Anokye.  Arrive and go on a royal procession to the Chief’s Palace where the Chief and Elders would assemble to perform a special naming ceremony to claim your African identity by adopting a Ghanaian name. After the naming ceremony, visit the Okomfo Anokye Shrine. Okomfo Anokye was the legendary Asante priest who conjured the sacred and powerful Golden Stool from the skies by his magical powers. You will be spellbound by the magical works of this great priest of Ghana’s history as they are orally presented to you. Continue a scenic drive to Akosombo for lunch at a riverfront restaurant. After lunch, enjoy a canon/ boat ride on the Volta River, cruise past several a very beautiful village built entirely from termite clay.

Travel to Ghana's Volta Region, a region of extraordinary scenic beauty, to Visit Ghana's tallest waterfalls, the Wli Waterfalls. Put on your trekking shoes and enjoy a walk through a dense tropical forest. Relax in the soothing waters of Wli Waterfalls. Visit the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary and Cultural Village, one of Ghana’s most famous examples of traditional African conservation. The local people believe that these monkeys are messengers to the gods and their protectors and as such the chief and people of this area have been protecting them for the past 200 years.

Travel on a scenic drive to Kumasi, capital of the Asante Kingdom, with a stop to visit the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG) and a Chocolate Processing Factory to experience the chocolate making process. Arrive in Kumasi and check into your hotel.

Depart for a city tour of Kumasi visiting the Manhyia Palace and Palace Museum, National Cultural Centre, Prempeh II Jubilee Museum and the Okomfo Anokye Sword. Drive past the Kumasi Central Market, one of the largest open-air markets in West Africa. In the afternoon, visit a few Ashanti craft villages to see the skill and imagination of local craftsmen using simple tools and traditional technology to produce breath taking artifacts and designs from which you may pick souvenirs for friends and family back home.

  After breakfast, drive to Elmina to visit Elmina Castle, another UNESCO World Heritage Site built in 1482. This castle was the first European structure built in sub-Saharan Africa. Check into your resort and rest of day is free to relax on the beach.

In the morning, you will visit the Kakum National Park to experience one of Africa’s Canopy Walkways suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rainforest. Visit Cape Coast Slave Castle and the West African Historical Museum for a guided tour. Cape Coast Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was one of the departure points for Africans being sent to slavery in the Americas. The castle is home to the infamous "Door of No Return". In the evening, join other members of the Diaspora and Ghanaians for a reverential night and candle light procession to remember our ancestors' journey to the slave castles (The dress code for the reverential night is WHITE-WHITE) – TO BE CONFIRMED.

Depart for Assin Manso, the burial site of two former slaves from the U. S. and Jamaica whose remains were re-interred in August 1998 during Ghana’s first Emancipation Day Celebration. You will see the “Slave River” where enslaved Africans were washed before being confined in the Slave Castles to await shipment to the Americas and the Caribbean. Participate in a solemn Durbar of Chiefs and People of Assin Manso to mark 2023 Emancipation Day Celebration. This durbar is held to give reverence to those ancestors who suffered the horrifying journey of the slave route and gave up their lives far away from their homeland. Travel on a scenic drive to Accra by driving past the village of Abandze, the ancestral home of Louis Armstrong, the famous American jazz musician. Arrive in Accra by late afternoon; those who ordered custom made clothing will go for fittings and adjustments. In the evening, proceed for a farewell dinner.
