You will be picked up from the airport or your hotel in Nairobi and the group will make our way to the foothills of Mount Kenya and the Sagana River, where you’ll have the opportunity to take some photos of the breathtaking views. We will arrive to the Riverine Spa & Resort in the evening, just in time to check in, and kick off the trip with a group welcome dinner.
Following breakfast at the hotel we’ll head to white water raft the Sagana River. After a safety briefing, we’ll raft for 2-3 hours and then break for lunch. The afternoon is open to relax at the river or there are additional activities you can add (additional cost) including rock climbing, archery, and kayaking. We’ll head back to our hotel around 4pm to change and meet up for dinner.
Day three begins with breakfast at the hotel. After we check out, we’ll head to Aberdare National Park, a beautiful mountain range in the central highlands of Kenya. Just in time to check into the hotel, Aberdare Country Club, where we will drop off our bags and grab lunch.
After lunch we head out for our first game drive of the trip. Aberdare National Park is home to elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white Columbus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs, and bushbucks, among others. Rare sightings include those of the Giant Forest hogs, bongos, golden cats, Serval cats, African wild cats, African Civet cats, and the Blue Duikers.
Later we’ll return to the hotel for dinner and an evening dip in the pool.
On the fourth day of your safari, you will wake up early, have breakfast, and drive to the park for a game-viewing activity where you will be able to see a variety of animals such as warthogs, reedbuck, spotted hyenas, black and white colobus monkeys, African elephants, olive baboons, and black rhinos. You will also have a chance to sightsee rare animals like giant forest hogs, bongo, golden cats, African civet cats, and blue duikers.
We’ll return to the hotel for lunch and then head to The Ark Hotel at the heart of the Aberdare National Park to either relax at the viewing deck where mammals regularly visit the salt lick and watering hole. If you’d rather keep moving, there’s also the option to take a guided 3k nature walk along the moorland to view beautiful valleys, waterfalls, and a range of wildlife. Either way, we’ll all meet up for a sundowner (sunset) at The Ark Hotels patio before heading back to our hotel for dinner.
After breakfast on day five, we drive to Hell’s Gate National Park for a guided bike safari. Located in the Naivasha area, it is one of the lowland parks in the country. The looming cliffs and the Hell's Gate gorge are spectacular and home to a variety of birds and animals such as zebra, baboons, Thomson gazelle, and antelope. You will enjoy bike riding at Hells Gate as you watch the animals graze up close.
In the afternoon, our guide will take us to Fischer's Tower, a 25 meters high calcium volcanic rock. This towering structure was formed by molten rock shooting through a fissure in the ground millions of years ago. The final result is striking – the tower stands high above the plains and welcomes visitors to Hell’s Gate.
After an action packed day we’ll head to our hotel, Naivasha Kongoni Lodge, for dinner.
We depart early in the morning after breakfast and drive further along the floor of the Rift Valley to Masai Mara National Reserve. The Reserve is one of the few places left on earth where wildlife still lives comparatively undisturbed, in the numbers that once roamed the plains and forests of Africa. As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and attendant predators. You'll arrive to the Masai Mara Sopa Lodge to check in and have lunch. Then we’ll head out on an afternoon game drive in this vast wildlife park and then visit the Maasai Cultural Village that afternoon. The group returns to the lodge in the evening in time for dinner.
Day seven is a full safari experience. We’ll get an early start with a morning safari game drive where you will see more of the Mara’s great wildlife. Early morning and late afternoon are considered the best times to spot animals at their most active. Return to the lodge for a relaxed breakfast and the rest of the morning is free. After lunch, we’ll take a mid-afternoon safari game drive to further explore the reserve. We’ll return to the lodge in the evening for a final sundowner and farewell group dinner.
On the last day we squeeze in one last morning game drive in Mara, return to the lodge for breakfast, and head back to Nairobi. On the way back, we stop for one last adventure in the Kereita Forest.
Our scenic drive is about three hours to Kimende on the upper escarpment. Upon arrival, the beginning of Kereita Forest starts at the Carbacid Forest Gate. The group will stop to visit a small natural spring in the neighborhood to view water bubbling from underground. Then we will proceed to the flying fox zip tour, gliding over the canopy at heart-racing speeds.
After an adventurous activity in the forest, we set out for Nairobi. We arrive in the late evening with a drop-off at the airport or your hotel.
