It was a unique experience. Our guide, Vincent, is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. He accompanied us on this tour, telling and teaching us stories about Afro-Panamanian culture. Once we reached Portobelo, he continued to enlighten us about history and resistance. I don't want to say anything else because if you're interested in supporting Afro-culture around the world and learning real stories, this tour is for you. If you're lucky, you'll even have the honor of meeting Dez, a queen!

Dez was an amazing trip organizer! This was my first time going on a travel group trip with new people so I was anxious but knowing it was all girls eased my worries. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user so I was a little worried about navigating the terrain but she really did her research because all of the hotels, restaurants and experiences we did were accessible. I would definitely book again! Obrigada for the memories!! <3

This trip was such a wonderful experience. I was not sure what to expect, but Des did an amazing job of showing us the Black history and culture of Panama in a way that could be appreciated by all. The group was intimate and engaged and our tour guide was very personable and knowledgeable. It was nice to also have a good amount of free time to connect with the other women and explore the city and nightlife on our own. I can't wait to go on the next Afro Latina Retreat!!
