The Pleasures of Sicily
I have been to Italy several times but never to Sicily. My favorite parts of the trip were seeing the ruins. Having our guide, Salvatore, explain the history of the country was amazing. Our cooking class with Fiora was wonderful. We started at the food market and purchased what we were going to cook. We followed that up with a boat cruise around the coast and a swim in the Mediterranean. So refreshing! We went to an Organic farm (where all the animals roamed free) and made ricotta cheese and had a 10 course meal served to us. Everything came from the farm. Everything!! Another day we went to Modica and learned about the origins of chocolate and even made some.
The trip could not have been more perfect. We did a good deal of sightseeing and had enough down time. The cost of the trip was very affordable, considering all the perks that were included. Any travel agency here in the states could not meet the standard of this trip at the cost offered to us. I only have praise and gratitude to express about this experience. They gave me memories and good feelings to carry through life, which is so appreciated by me.

My visit to the Apulia Region of Italy
As soon as I saw Barb Minemier’s “youtube” video promoting the trip to the Puglia region of Italy, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. Barb is a Nutrition Coach and her goal was to provide people with the experience of living the life of a local in Puglia. This trip did not disappoint. She and travel agent, Benedetto Perrone thought of every detail to make this trip special. From the welcome cocktail hour to the cooking class where we learned how to make- sagne n'cannulate- one of the pastas of the region, to the many fabulous home cooked meals. They really took care of every detail and made sure we were well-fed and that our glasses were never empty of wine.
I loved learning about the different cheeses of the region through our visit to the local dairy farm where we met Anna, the owner and her wonderful mother. They treated us to a wine and cheese tasting after our tour of the farm where we saw how the cheese was made. Our trip to the olive oil mill where we harvested our own olives and learned from a professional olive oil taster was awesome! I never knew olives tasted bitter off the tree! At one point we found Carmella getting on her bike to pick fresh local greens for dinner. If that doesn’t represent the life of a local then I don’t know what does.

Siena is likely Italy's loveliest medieval city, and a trip worth making even if you are in Tuscany for just a few days. Siena's heart is its central piazza known as Il Campo,

Lucca is one of the cities most loved in all of Tuscany, a stop that should not be missed. There is no need to say that Lucca, the city of 100 churches, can’t be visited in just one day, but it may be enough to taste its essence and glimpse its artistic treasures to make you want to return and spend more time exploring its more hidden attractions."
We leave Lucca and on to Monterosso al mare.
