This is one of the most colorful events worldwide! Five hundred hot air balloons fill the skies in the brilliant skies of the southwest. Enjoy the art, shopping, and culture of New Mexico on this tour, leaving right from Champaign.

Dawn Patrol-Old Town-Balloon Glow
Today, experience one of the most photographed events in the world, the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. Early this morning, view over 100 colorful balloons from around the world at Dawn Patrol, followed by the Mass Ascension. The balloons make the sky a palette of multicolored orbs dancing in the cool morning light. Later, stop in Old Town to stroll the historic adobe buildings that house over 150 shops, galleries, and restaurants. Also, see the icon of Old Town, the San Felipe de Neri Church. This evening, return to the Balloon Fiesta to witness the Balloon Glow, where, just before dusk, burners from hundreds of balloons light up the evening sky. (Boxed B)

Indian Pueblo Cultural Center-Los Alamos-Santa Fe
This morning, visit the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, which depicts the history and culture of New Mexico’s 19 Native American pueblos. Then, head north from Albuquerque to visit the Los Alamos Bradbury Science Museum to learn about the Manhattan Project and the creation of the world’s first atomic bomb. Later, arrive in Santa Fe for a three-night stay. Santa Fe is renowned for its Pueblo-style architecture and as a creative arts hotbed. (B)

Taos
Depart this morning and travel north via the “High Road to Taos,” passing through ancient villages founded in the 1700’s. Stop in the Spanish village of Chimayo to visit El Santuario, revered by pilgrims for the healing power of dirt found inside the chapel. Arrive in Taos, the historic home of the Pueblo Indians. Enjoy a Taos visit and learn about this fascinating city rich in culture and scenery. Atop a plateau between the Rio Grande and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Taos has lured artists and writers since the 19th century. Enjoy lunch on your own and shopping in the Taos Plaza. Later, enjoy a tour of the Taos Pueblo, one of the oldest continuously inhabited communities in North America, before returning to Santa Fe. (B)

Enjoy the rest of the day and evening at your own pace in this historic city to explore the many art galleries, museums, restaurants, and shops. We had a great time! Travel was super easy with our bus to and from the airport, check-ins at the airport and into each hotel. It was great to have days perfectly planned with a great list of activities. We really enjoyed our travel guide in San Francisco - he was so knowledgeable and did a great job showing us around. Our LA guide was OK but I think it was hard to see much of interest as LA seems so spread out. We also wanted to provide a special 'shout out' to our bus driver (Ruben w/Via) for the week. Ruben was fantastic!! Would definitely go again!

The trip was good except for the flight which is normal and the bus back from Ohara but understand this will be corrected and gift available for future trips. But I also must mention the dinner on the last night there. Dinner was a long way from hotel and the time we it took us plus and the time we returned just did not make any since, since several in our group had to get up to catch their plane home early in the morning. It would have made much more since to have this dinner the night prior and the last dinner could have been held in the hotel or a walking distance from the hotel and much earlier. This should be looked at on any of your future trips

Overall, it was a great trip! The group guide was excellent and the local guides were also very good. I learned something new every day and have amazing photos to remember this trip for years to come!

I enjoyed the accommodations, the tour of Provence, small towns, the guide, Gerard, the luxurious bus and wonderfully competent driver, Alessandro. The experience were exuberant, cooking class, truffle hunting and tasting, the boat ride. I enjoyed the people and camaraderie.
