Trip Overview

Trek the tough ancient route of the amazing Inca Trail towards Machu Picchu

Among the world’s top hikes is the Inca trip that leads you towards Machu Picchu. Essentially the Inca Trail is a mountainous forest hike leading to the holy Inca city of Machu Picchu. The massive 43km trek normally takes 4 days to complete, before you eventually arrive at Machu Picchu. Inca Trail is considered as the best hike in Peru, combining a remarkable mix of Inca remains, green cloud forest, mountain scenery and a vivid sub-tropical jungle. More than 250 orchid species have been discovered in the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

Those who wish to conquer the challenging Inca Trail will require a certain degree of fitness. However, age shouldn't obstruct your path. It is very essential to be properly acclimatized to this altitude. The utmost height over sea level on this path is 4200m therefore, we advise anyone travelling from the coastal area to spend a minimum of two days in the Cusco region before taking on this challenge. This time of the year is perfect to visit Cusco, the Sacsayhuaman ruins nearby and the spectacular Incan Sacred Valley.

Reviews

My experiences and tours in Peru were absolutely outstanding. The director, Juan Franco, communicated before the trip and we were able to design a trip just for me. His prices were excellent and tour guides for Lima, the Sacred Valley, Ollantaytambo, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain were all terrific. All the choke points of contact at airports and hotels were flawless. Often travel in a new country does not go according to plan. This is where Juan Franco shined. The train to Machu Picchu was on strike for 2 days. Juan wrestled with ticket changes and good alternate plans. Not everyone has this experience. An American couple, also stranded in Ollantaytambo for 2 days did not. Their phone calls and emails remained unanswered. That is not what Juan Franco did. He was a champion who expended full energy to solve the problem. If you are planning a trip to Peru, I would highly recommend Cultura Viva Travel Agency. They were incredibly professional and responsive. The avenue of payment was clear, reasonable and secure. You could be in no better hands and I give Juan Franco and Cultura Viva Travel Agency my highest recommendation.. Greg
