Your adventure begins at the Arajuno Bridge, where a motorized canoe takes you upstream for 20 minutes through a winding jungle river, unveiling the mystical beauty of the rainforest. Upon arrival at Itamandi EcoLodge, you’ll be welcomed with a refreshing tropical drink and a briefing by our expert naturalist guide. After lunch and time to settle in, the evening brings a guided night walk, revealing the Amazon’s secret nightlife—frogs, bats, owls, insects, and, if lucky, even snakes—under a sky full of stars.
After a hearty breakfast, explore primary and secondary rainforest on a guided jungle trek (2.5–3 hrs), where you’ll learn about medicinal plants, exotic wildlife, and the interconnectedness of the Amazon ecosystem. In the afternoon, meet a local Kichwa community to experience their ancestral traditions. Taste "chicha" (a traditional fermented yucca drink), sample native dishes, and witness vibrant cultural dances. This immersive encounter connects you deeply with Amazonian life.
Embark on a canoe ride to Anaconda Island, home to wildlife like the prehistoric Hoatzin bird, squirrel monkeys, and woolly monkeys. Visit an indigenous family to discover traditional farming, medicinal plants, and blowgun hunting techniques. After lunch, explore AmaZOOnico, a wildlife rescue center where you’ll see rescued Amazonian animals up close, many of them endangered, in semi-natural enclosures.
At dawn, take a final canoe excursion to witness the Parrot Clay Lick, a natural phenomenon where hundreds of parrots and parakeets gather to eat mineral-rich clay. A breathtaking sight and a must-see for bird lovers. Return to the lodge for breakfast, then head back to the Arajuno Bridge by motorized canoe, bringing your unforgettable Amazon journey to a close.
