About this trip

How can we move from fragmentation into wholeness? It's a question to ask our self, our relationships, and healing humanity. It is neither hopeless nor wishful thinking but requires commitment, presence, and work. Most of all, it practices our capacity to love fully. During our 8 day retreat, we will dive deeply into body intelligence; take in indigenous and ancestral wisdom; and access various energy fields. This will facilitate natural healing, develop your intuition, expand your consciousness, and re-awaken interconnectedness. Join us in this sacred space to nourish your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual body.

  • Practice body awareness and recognize felt sensations during Hatha yoga and meditation
  • Generate somatic and myofascial unwinding with TRE® (tension-trauma release)
  • Open up your energy channels with QiGong and laughter yoga
  • Feel deep relaxation with restorative yoga
  • Receive blessings and guidance from spirits in ceremonies and rituals
  • Gain clarity, intuition, and insight with Family Constellation exercises
  • Process your subconscious levels with innerdance energy work
  • Be in the magic of community with open mic night and shared experiences

In the tropical jungles of Montezuma, we warmly welcome you to Anamaya Retreat. Located in Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula, it has been named as a "Blue Zone"— one of five areas in the world where people are known to live the longest and healthiest.

Anamaya means 'good health' in Sanskrit and is a premier wellness resort. Culinary delights, warm breezes, and a saltwater infinity pool offer a sanctuary for the senses. This boutique hotel has been designed to blend in with nature, combining simple elegance and comfort. Each room features ensuite bathrooms with hot water shower, A/C, ceiling fans, private deck, hammock, organic linens, and breathtaking Pacific Ocean views. Toucans and monkeys often visit the treetops and greet guests! All-inclusive package rates include tax and are priced in USD.

Please note that this will be a retreat with our own private group and our own yoga shala. There may be other hotel guests on the property sharing the common spaces, ie. swimming pool and dining area.

As a traveler, teacher, and seeker in life, Tammy started Hanuman Yoga Retreat in 2013. Since then, Tammy has led retreats in Bali, Thailand, Mexico, Hawaii, Vietnam, and California. Tammy brings a gentle, calm, and reflective approach and aims to work where people are at, instead of where they "should" be.   Tammy offers several modalities for self-care, healing, and connection— Hatha Yoga, QiGong, JourneyDance™, Inner dance Energy Work, TRE® (tension-trauma release), Laughter Yoga, Family Constellations, and Craniosacral Therapy. Tammy's spiritual path opened up multiple kundalini awakenings, a twin flame journey, spontaneous channeling, the ability to sense spirits, and experiences in different realms. Tammy's classes, workshops, and retreats consistently receive excellent reviews on TripAdvisor, BookYogaRetreats, and WeTravel. Tammy is a nomad currently based in Santa Cruz, California. Follow Hanuman Yoga Retreat on Facebook.

"I attended Tammy's retreat in Mexico, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself. It truly was a transformative experience. Tammy is so knowledgeable and very gentle in her practice. She offers a variety of practices and activities all of which are essentially invitations to look within yourself. I learned so much about both myself and life on this retreat, and Tammy was the catalyst that I needed. I had little to no yoga experience prior to coming to this retreat, but did not at all feel overwhelmed or lost during our yoga sessions. Tammy is very sensitive and responsive to people's individual needs and limitations, which I very much appreciated."

After holding retreats in Mexico for the past eight years, I am expanding to Costa Rica for the first time! Costa Rica is considered one of the 'original' yoga, wellness, and tropical destination for travelers. I am excited to immerse in the magic of this country!

Currently, there is no COVID testing or quarantine required to enter Costa Rica. On your flight, you will be given a brief health form to fill out before landing at SJO. We will group you according to arrival time, and you’ll be asked to wear masks and travel with windows open.

In light of COVID, Anamaya has put forth new procedures for sanitation and cleanliness. The property is fortunate to have open-air spaces and/or provide cross ventilation, including the yoga shala, dining area, and the casitas. Fresh ocean breezes bring constant circulation. Late February is a wonderful time of year to visit Montezuma. It is hot and sunny during the day, with cool mornings and evenings.

Some things to note:

  • Your home country health insurance (ie. USA) does not cover medical expenses when you are in another country (ie. traveling in Costa Rica)
  • If you have global health insurance, check what countries it covers and does not cover.
  • Most credit cards include basic travel insurance at no additional cost (ie. trip delays, cancellation, interruptions, lost luggage, rental car damage). However, check for policy updates due to COVID.

To book your spot, we ask for an initial $200 non-refundable deposit. The final balance will be due on Feb. 8, 2022 (2.5 weeks before the retreat).

Once you purchase your flight and this retreat, you are responsible for purchasing travel insurance that will cover trip cancellation, trip interruption, emergency medical/dental, and emergency evacuation/repatriation. Some of the most popular travel insurance providers are Allianz, GeoBlue, World Nomads, American Express, and Travel Guard. Your credit card or employer may also provide certain coverage. Check that the insurance has coverage in the event that:

  • there are new travel restrictions to/from Costa Rica and to/from your place of departure that would prevent you from attending the retreat.
  • You have been tested positive for COVID-19.

You are responsible for the following:

  • Checking that your passport is valid.
  • Checking about any quarantine policy upon return to your home residence and workplace.
  • We recommend booking flights that are fully refundable or can be flexibly re-booked. Most airlines offer this already.

Neither Hanuman Yoga Retreat nor Anamaya are liable for any loss of personal property; your health condition during or after the retreat; or any matters in the event of a cancellation (ie. how it may impact your plans. )

The retreat at Haramara was simply amazing. Tammy is an extraordinary facilitator and a wonderful soul. I was able to strengthen my yoga practice thanks to Tammy's most professional teachings. Besides that we were able to enjoy a number of astonishing modalities, in particular in the field of energy work, which were indeed fascinating. Haramara is a heavenly place perfect to get away from everything, find peace and quiet and connect with nature.

I had a fantastic time. There were a variety of activities and all were nourishing. The accommodations were great and the food was tasty. I loved being by the ocean, hearing the waves and watching the sunset or the moon. This is my second retreat with Tammy and I just love what she put together for the New Year. I'm so grateful for this opportunity and for the connections made!
By Denise M for New Year's Yoga, Meditation, Wellness Retreat on 10 Jan, 2021
Wow, where to begin? I joined the week-long new year's retreat in Mexico without doing any research and thought I was heading into a "yoga" retreat that would be mostly about fitness. I was WRONG. And what I experienced was EVEN BETTER! Indescribably so. I am already ready to book it again for new year's next year. This was truly a transformative experience in totally unexpected ways. Tammy is a very special person, and her co-facilitator for this retreat, Dave, was as well. The space these two created for us was one of safety and joy! They led us through Hatha yoga and many other types of yoga and different modalities that I had never heard of or tried, all to incredible results. Leaving the retreat I felt an incredible amount of joy and release and ready to take on an amazing year. (Can't say I've ever felt that way after waking up hungover from a new year's eve spent out at the bars...) The group at the retreat was also great -- I know that I will see people that I met here again. Wonderful community and friends that could only be created in an atmosphere like this -- full of vulnerability, joy, pain, openness and love. I can't recommend enough!!!
