A self-guided motorcycle journey designed for riders who enjoy exploring as much as reaching the destination.

Crossing the Andes between Argentina and Chile, this circular route explores the volcanic heart of Northern Patagonia — a region where landscapes can change dramatically within a single riding day.

On the Chilean side, lush forests, lakes and volcanoes dominate the scenery. Cross back into Argentina and the landscape becomes progressively drier, rougher and more open, before reaching the araucaria forests and volcanic terrain surrounding Villa Pehuenia.

Rather than prescribing every road, this journey provides suggested routes and alternatives, leaving room to improvise, follow an interesting road or choose how much gravel and adventure you want to add along the way.

The overnight stops are planned. How you connect them is part of the adventure.

DAY 1 | Arrival → Villa La Angostura

Arrival at Bariloche Airport (BRC), transfer to Villa La Angostura and motorcycle briefing.

DAY 2 | Villa La Angostura → Panguipulli, Chile | approx. 250 km

Cross the Andes into Chile and enter a dramatically greener landscape of dense forests, farmland and volcanic lakes.

Several roads can connect today’s landscapes — follow our suggested route or use the day to start exploring your own way.

DAY 3 | Panguipulli → Pucón | approx. 180 km

Los Ríos Region · Lakes & native forests · Volcanic landscapes · Villarrica Volcano

A shorter riding day through Chile’s lush volcanic region, leaving plenty of freedom to explore secondary roads, stop along the lakes or simply take the long way to Pucón.

This is also thermal country: use the shorter riding day to add a visit to one of the hot spring complexes found throughout the region and enjoy some time off the motorcycle.

DAY 4 | Pucón → Villa Pehuenia | ROUTE CHOICE DAY

Today is about choosing how you want to ride.

Follow the easier suggested route or choose a more adventurous alternative combining gravel and mountain backroads.

Whichever option you choose, the transition is remarkable: the lush, humid Chilean side of the Andes gradually gives way to the drier, rougher landscapes of Argentina.

DAY 5 | Villa Pehuenia → Villa La Angostura | approx. 300 km

Araucaria forests · Aluminé River · Patagonian steppe · Seven Lakes region

A final day linking some of Neuquén’s most characteristic landscapes: ancient araucaria forests, volcanic terrain, open steppe and mountain lakes.

Once again, there is room to choose the road according to conditions, riding preferences and how much exploring you still feel like doing.

DAY 6 | Departure

Breakfast and transfer from Villa La Angostura to Bariloche Airport (BRC).

Designed for riders who enjoy exploring independently and are comfortable making decisions on the road.

This journey combines paved mountain roads with gravel and optional backroads. The technical difficulty can vary significantly depending on the routes chosen and current road conditions.

Previous gravel experience is recommended, particularly for riders interested in the more adventurous route alternatives.
