The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a breathtaking journey into the heart of the Annapurna Himalayas. Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will be there to greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in and some time to freshen up, you’ll attend a short trek briefing conducted by your guide or trek coordinator. The session will cover important details about the trek, including the route, altitude, packing essentials, safety guidelines, and local customs. This is also a great time to ask any last-minute questions. The rest of the day is free to explore Thamel or simply relax before your adventure begins.

In the morning, after breakfast, you’ll have some time to relax before beginning the journey to Pokhara, our next destination and the starting point of the trek. The drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara is approximately 201 kilometers and takes around 8 to 9 hours, depending on road conditions. Along the way, we’ll pass through Naubise, Kurintar, the Trishuli River Valley, and the Manakamana Temple area. You’ll witness the sunlight reflecting off the Trishuli River and the surrounding hills, creating a serene and picturesque landscape. The drive offers diverse views of Nepal’s mid-hill regions, adding to the scenic charm of the journey.
Upon reaching Pokhara, you’ll be greeted by the peaceful vibe of the lakeside city, with stunning views of Phewa Lake and the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Mountain. In the evening, you’re free to explore the lakeside area, enjoying the chill atmosphere, mountain reflections in the lake, and the beauty of Pokhara’s vibrant yet relaxing setting.

Today marks an exciting day as we drive to Ghandruk and begin our trek toward Chhomrong. The trek from Ghandruk to Chhomrong spans approximately 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) and typically takes between 4 to 6 hours, depending on your walking pace and rest stops. The trail is well-marked and features a combination of downhill and uphill sections. You begin with a descent from Ghandruk, followed by a steady ascent toward Chhomrong. Throughout the journey, trekkers are treated to breathtaking views of the Annapurna Mountain range, including the majestic Annapurna South and the distinctive Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). The trail offers a rewarding blend of natural beauty, cultural charm, and peaceful surroundings.
Chhomrong, a bustling Gurung village, sits at 2,170 meters (7,120 feet) in the Annapurna region. It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and a peaceful atmosphere that invites relaxation. With a range of cozy tea houses and friendly local hospitality, Chhomrong serves as an excellent overnight halt for trekkers heading further into the Himalayas.

The trek begins with a steep descent down stone steps to the Chhomrong Khola river, where you'll cross a sturdy suspension bridge. The trek from Bamboo to Deurali leads you through beautiful rhododendron and bamboo forests, gradually climbing to higher altitudes. Along the way, you’ll encounter peaceful surroundings, with glimpses of cascading waterfalls and untouched wilderness that create a calming atmosphere for hikers. As you ascend, the temperature drops, signaling your approach to the Annapurna Sanctuary.
Deurali, at 3,230 meters, serves as the final village before entering the sacred Annapurna Sanctuary, where the trail transitions from inhabited settlements to the raw beauty of the high Himalayas. This quiet mountain settlement offers tea houses or lodges where trekkers can rest and acclimatize. The serene environment and fresh alpine air provide the perfect setting to relax and prepare for the challenging trek ahead, as you venture further into the majestic Himalayas.

Today is the day that we have been waiting for the last 3 to 4 days to reach Annapurna Base Camp. The day of the Annapurna Trek, you’ll ascend from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) via Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC). The trail gradually climbs through a dramatic valley, offering breathtaking views as you reach MBC, where the iconic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) dominates the skyline. From there, you continue toward ABC at 4,130 meters, surrounded by towering peaks like Annapurna I, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli, a natural amphitheater of snow-capped giants.
At ABC, you’ll stay overnight in a lodge or tea house, enjoying warm meals and the companionship of fellow trekkers. The serene atmosphere, combined with the grandeur of the Himalayas, makes it a memorable stop. If the weather is clear, a stunning sunset over the peaks offers a perfect moment of reflection and celebration.

Following breakfast at the hotel with a view of the Lake and Fish Tail. Today, you’ll travel by private transport from Pokhara back to Kathmandu via the scenic Prithvi Highway. The drive takes about six hours, passing through small villages, rural towns, terraced farms, and rolling hills. If the weather is clear, you’ll enjoy final views of snow-capped mountains along the way, making the journey as beautiful as the destination.
Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you’ll have free time to explore or relax. You can stroll through the bustling streets of Thamel, shop for souvenirs, or simply unwind at your hotel. In the evening, a representative from Nepal Social Treks will pick you up for a special farewell dinner, giving you the perfect opportunity to celebrate the end of your memorable Nepal adventure.
