After enjoying your breakfast, you’ll commence the ascent towards the Thorong La pass. Today marks a significant milestone as you attempt to cross the Thorang-La Pass at an impressive altitude of 5,416 meters, making it one of the world’s highest navigable passes. Following the pass crossing, a further five-hour trek will lead you to the revered town of Muktinath. Nestled in the Muktinath Valley, this sacred site holds deep significance for both Hindus and Buddhists. Referred to as Mukti Kshetra by Hindus, meaning “place of salvation,” the main temple has origins in the Sri Vaishnava tradition and is revered by Buddhists as well. Upon arrival, explore the revered Shree Muktinath Temple and partake in the sacred ritual of bathing under the 108 water springs and two holy Kunda. Adjacent to the temple lies the Jwala Mai Temple, featuring a spring and an eternal flame fuelled by natural underground gas, a captivating sight to behold.
