About this trip

We will be reading:

When the Body Says No: Understanding the Stress-Disease Connection by Gabor Maté MD

One Virtual Meeting:

7:00 PM EST - 8:30 PM EST

Thursday, April 28th

Can  a person literally die of loneliness? Is there a connection between the  ability to express emotions and Alzheimer’s disease? Is there such a thing as a ‘cancer personality’?

Drawing on deep scientific research and Dr Gabor Maté’s acclaimed clinical work, When the Body Says No  provides the answers to critical questions about the mind-body link – and the role that stress and our emotional makeup play in an array of common diseases such as arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, irritable bowel syndrome and multiple sclerosis.

With dozens of case studies and stories including those of Lou Gehrig, Betty Ford and Lance Armstrong, Gabor Maté reveals ‘The Seven A’s of Healing’: the principles for healing and prevention of illness from hidden stress.

WILD WITHIN
38 reviews
We believe the greatest adventure of all is in living our one wild life—the life that is entirely our own and has been waiting for us since we were born. Wild Within was founded to help you step into that life. We support those on this journey through retreats, gatherings, courses and workshops. We draw upon the healing and transformative power of community, the wilderness, the journey and a wide range of ancient traditions and modern teachings to aid those who hear the call of the Wild Within.

I had no idea what to expect and I have to tell you, putting my trust in this group of people was the absolute best thing I could done for myself. Do not hesitate when it comes to this amazing group of people. From the accommodations, to the food, to support before, during, and after, they have you all the way. Do something great for yourself. Wild Within do not disappoint.

In a nut shell, this retreat provides a place for one to work on their own internal landscape while being bathed in reparative experience that promotes the building of self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-love, all well bolstering a connection with others who are immersed in their own work. In society, we are rarely provided experiences to be seen and heard. Alasdair and Kelly, and the entire Wild Within crew, stop at nothing to make sure that each and every participant is seen and heard in exactly the way they need to be. There is a new language and a new way of being that is presented and taught at these retreats. Each person is invited to take what they need and leave the rest. Although to be honest, there was nothing I wanted to leave behind. Trout Creek was a majestic place to do this very personal work on myself. Thank you Wild Within for continuing to create once-in-a-lifetime experiences that I will be making a regular part of my life. I look forward to seeing what comes next on this path that you continue to help me discover and traverse.

Every time I connect with a Wild Within group, I leave feeling refreshed, connected, alive1 and calm. I know the activities will be curated for my highest good and the people gathered are amazing and will become friends. I come away with new friends and re-connect with old friends during every trip. It has become like a family to me. Im so thankful for the experiences to turn of my phone, have time for myself, eat well and be with others in nature because I deserve it and you do too! Take a step to take care or yourself -- you deserve it.

If you seek transformative growth over time, book clubs through Wild Within provide a safe space to ask questions and dig deeper into the aspects that make us human. From participants all over the world, to the facilitators, there is honor and inclusivity with books providing a springboard for discussions. Although books are carefully selected with a common thread weaving them together, they also can stand alone, allowing participants flexibility in joining the discussion and books when interested, or time permits. Highly recommend.

Guatemala is a truly a magical place and beauty abounds. It is even more so when you join Wild Within and connect with yourself, your spirit and inner voice. They create an incredible container to gently, thoughtfully and strongly hold space for your journey of discovery and exploration. I felt safe and cared for by al the leaders, Kelly, Alasdair, Julie Roxanne and Lou. I laughed, I cried, I listened. I felt seen and supported. The ceremonies were filled with beautiful humans in our group who were truly open, honest, and inspiring every day. We became a family throughout the course and it was joyous. I feel so much love for everyone on our trip. The venue was stunning and the lodging was so cozy with beautiful views. The concept of gathering here in Guatemala together was deep and powerful. We gathered every day in the most unique and beautiful ways--in yoga, hikes, in ceremony, with breath work among rose petals and under steep rock cliffs, in dance, with cacao, over delicious healthful food (and smoothies) with a mayan shaman, with an inspiring local chef touching beautifully handmade textiles and local foods and with a guide to see sunrise and explore the geology of this amazing land! This trip truly had so many things to offer. Each one gives you time to learn more about yourself and listen to your inner voice and connect to the spirit within you. I feel like Im able to understand myself and my spirituality more than ever even possible before. Im truly grateful for all the people I met in Guatemala and such an amazing experience I will enjoy the memories for lifetimes!
