Recognized as one of the largest natural canyons on our planet, the Colca Canyon Valley offers some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the Andes mountain range, as well as a great opportunity for adventure sports, such as hiking inside the canyon and mountaineering in the gigantic volcanoes and snow-capped mountains that surround Arequipa. Deep in the canyon there are green oases adorned with tropical palm trees and relaxing hot springs where all hikers are welcome. The Colca Valley is a small paradise, where a generous river, created millions of years ago, still flows through the agricultural fields of the native people of the area.

This excursion starts in the city of Arequipa. We will start our excursion to the Colca Valley at 03:00 h. You will be picked up from your hotel, and then you will be driven to the tourist bus station to travel to Cabanaconde, a town located on the banks of the Colca Canyon. During the bus ride, we will be able to appreciate beautiful high Andean landscapes, including the Aguada Blanca reserve where it is possible to observe herds of Vicuñas and Alpacas. Later we will pass a pass at an altitude of 4800 meters, and then descend to the banks of the Colca Canyon passing through the community of Chivay. From this point our journey continues along the left bank of the Canyon, which means that participants will be able to appreciate beautiful scenery along the route until we reach the town of Cabanaconde. We will arrive at the village of Cabanaconde around 1:00 pm, just in time for lunch. Later we will start descending deep into the Colca, using a winding path that will take us to the bottom of the canyon, until we reach a small community called Llahuar. We will be arriving at the community of Llahuar at approximately 5:00 pm. Here we will have free time to explore the area and then we will have dinner with our group under the starlight. We will spend the night in this community.
