Welcome to Rio de Janeiro! This city is the cultural capital of Brazil, home to iconic sights and famous for the laid back carioca lifestyle. Meet our representative upon your arrival to the airport and drive to your hotel for check-in. Enjoy the rest of the day - and the rollicking Rio night - at your leisure.

Day 2

Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Tour

Start off your day with a tour up Corcovado, the mountain in the middle of Rio de Janeiro famous for its massive Christ the Redeemer statue. You’ll ride through Laranjeiras, one of the city’s oldest residential districts, and through the traditional Cosme Velho neighborhood. Here, you will board a mountain train for a scenic trip through the Tijuca forest, the largest urban forest in the world.

Next, drive to the Urca neighborhood to the base of one of Rio’s most recognizable sights. The ascent to the peak of Sugarloaf is via a two-stage cable car system. Up here, take in breathtaking views of Guanabara Bay, the Rio-Niteroi Bridge, Corcovado Hill and Christ the Redeemer, as well as the surrounding beaches.

Following the tour, you’ll return to your Rio de Janeiro hotel to enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure.

Arrival in Foz de Iguazú

On arrival, meet your driver for the short ride to your confirmed hotel. Spend the rest of the evening at your leisure, enjoying the town’s attractions, or relax at your hotel.

Day 4

Argentinian Falls Tour + Iguazu Great Adventure

Join your guide for a tour of the Argentinian side of Iguazú Falls. Two long walking circuits (upper and lower) allow you to get close to the many cascades that make up the waterfall system. Highlights include Salto San Martin and Salto Bossetti. From the upper walkway, you’ll get a birdseye view of the massive Devil’s Throat.

After your tours meet your guide, re-enter Iguazu National Park, and hop on a 4x4 truck for a thrilling ride on trails through exuberant tropical forest. On the edge of the Lower Iguazu River, board a motorboat to zoom up the river and splash through rapids to the foot of the gorge where Devil’s Throat sends up its deafening roar. Disembark at the dock on San Martin Island, sit back to catch your breath and admire the views, and then continue on foot through the walkway system on the Lower Circuit.

Day 5

Brazilian Side of falls Tour

Join your guide for a half day tour of the Brazilian side of Iguazú National Park. Stroll along trails on the edge of the Iguazu River and enjoy views of the falls including view of the Devil’s Throat as it spills over a U-shaped crevasse.  After, you'll be transferred back to your hotel.

Optional: Add the Macuco safari ride and boat tour.  This is a perfect option for adventure lovers since the boat will dunk you right under the falls.  Ask me for more details!

Day 6

Departure from Iguazú and Flight to Buenos Aires

Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your flight from Iguazu to your next destination.

Day 7

Buenos Aires 

Get better acquainted with the history and culture of Buenos Aires with this half-day tour. Meet your guide and head to Plaza de Mayo in the old city center to see the Casa Rosada (Pink House) and the Cathedral. Continue across the bridge Puente de la Mujer (Women’s Bridge) to the Puerto Madero riverfront district. Drive a short distance to the historic La Boca district, home to La Bombonera football stadium and the colorful Caminito artists’ street. End with a visit to bohemian San Telmo, an old neighborhood of cobblestoned streets and elegant mansions.

In the evening, you'll be transferred to one of the city’s premier tango houses where you will enjoy dinner and a tango show. Tonight’s show features the city’s best dancers dressed in fantastic costumes and a set design that will transport you to the golden age of tango. Drop-off at your hotel after the show.

Day 8

Arrival to El Calafate

Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your flight to El Calafate, gateway to the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. On arrival, meet our representative for a transfer to your confirmed hotel.

Then spend the rest of the day at your leisure. You can make a stop at the Glaciarium (Patagonian Ice Museum) to learn more about the earth’s glaciers or perhaps walk to Nimez Lagoon to see flamingos, black-necked swans, and other bird species.

Day 9

Perito Moreno Glacier Tour and Safari Nautico

Meet your guide for an 80 km drive along the shores of Lago Argentino to Los Glaciares National Park.  With your guide, you'll explore the trails and footpaths within the park ending at a panoramic viewpoint where you can see the looming mass of Perito Moreno glacier.  You may even see a huge chunk of ice calve off the glacier and crash into the waters of Lago Argentino with an impressive sound.

In the afternoon, take a boat tour to get a closer look at the glacier's southern wall.  After, you'll be transferred back to your hotel in El Calafate.

Optional: You can join a Minitrekking Glacier tour (for those ages 10 - 65 years) or a Big Ice trek tour (for those ages 18 - 50 years).  Both treks require a good level of fitness.  Please let me know if you're interested in one of these trekking opportunities.

From El Calafate, your bus departs early in the morning for a 3-hour ride through landscapes that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

On arrival to El Chalten town, begin a 12 km hike past impressive peaks and lagoons to the base of Mount Fitz Roy, also known as Cerro Chalten. In the native Tehuelche language, “chalten” means smoky mountain, in reference to the clouds that often hang from the peak’s tallest spires. Enjoy lunch with views of the mountain’s granite beauty. Then begin the return hike to the town where you will board the return bus to El Calafate.

Transfer from your hotel to the airport for your flight from El Calafate to Buenos Aires or to your next destination.

Then, spend the rest of the day at your leisure. Buenos Aires offers never-ending options to independent exploration. Stroll one of the main boulevards and experience the pace of life in the Argentine capital. Stop by the MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art) or the Fundacion Proa. Go to the Puerto Madero riverfront, and seek out the city’s best parrilla (steakhouse), sample Argentine wines, or do as the locals and sit at a cafe and enjoy a long afternoon of conversation.
