The Art + Culture Getaway is a soul-nourishing retreat that will introduce you to new foods, new friends, new cultures, and new customs. Immerse yourself in Mexican culture during this 5-day getaway. You'll experience sacred Mayan ceremonies, visit a UNESCO World Heritage site, take a Mexican folk art class, rest and relax, and dine with a celebrity chef.

Your group will stay at a beautiful villa in Mexico's Mayan Riviera with a beautiful indoor-outdoor living space, a private chef, daily cleaning, and more. Your host Annette has meticulously curated this getaway. She's making sure that every fat-positive detail is tended to, which gives you plenty of time to focus on culture, community, art, food, and fun! 

Your Getaway was created with the intention of supporting the local artists and businesses. Along with a host, you'll work with a Local Guide and Driver during your day trips. Instead of an all-inclusive resort, you'll stay in a beautiful locally-owned villa.

The Art + Culture Getaway is a unique opportunity for fat women to connect in a safe space with other art lovers. It's for those who can find as much art exploring historical ruins as a painted masterpiece. 

This Getaway is perfect for the traveler who wants to learn about history, culture, and food from the local community. A traveler that wants to experience luxury and authenticity alongside other plus size travelers.

Everyone has different mobility levels and we want to be as transparent about accessibility as possible. We also want to remind you that all of the activities are voluntary. 

There will be standing for more than and hour. Including our cooking class and day trips to Chichen Itza the Cozumel Ruins. Both Chichen Itza and the Cozumel Ruins are massive historical complexes. There are some places to sit and rest but very little shade. You will arrive early to avoid the afternoon heat. 

All deposits are non-refundable. 

If you cancel within 90 days of the getaway you will receive a 75% refund minus the non-refundable deposit. 

If you cancel within 60 days of the getaway you will receive a 50% refund minus the non-refundable deposit. 

If you cancel within 31-59 days of the getaway you will receive a 25% refund minus the non-refundable deposit. 

If you cancel less than 30 days before the getaway you will not receive a refund. 

If we cancel the getaway you will receive a full refund. 

In the event of illness, injury, or other extenuating circumstances affecting the trip, the departure will be rescheduled. If you can not attend during the new dates, you will receive a refund and your deposit will be transferred. 

By signing up for this trip, you acknowledge that Fat Girls Traveling LLC and Annette Richmond will not be held responsible for any issues that may arise from injury or Covid.

Your driver will meet you at the airport to transfer you comfortably to our private accommodations in Riviera Maya. 

Depending on your arrival time, you can rest in your room or take a dip in our private infinity pool before our Welcome Party.

The magic begins with a sacred Mayan ceremony followed by a traditional catered dinner paired with a tequila tasting.

Today we will take a ferry to the island of Cozumel. Where you'll explore the Cozumel Ruins with a local guide and take a Mexican folk art workshop. 

After lunch you'll have some free time to explore Cozumel before taking the ferry back to Playa del Carmen. 

Tonight you can do dinner on your own or with the group and get a taste of Playa's night life.

To beat the heat you'll have an early start to make your way to the UNESCO World Heritage site  Chichen Itza. After exploring one of the new Seven Wonders of the World you'll enjoy the culinary experience of a lifetime. Trust us, your taste buds will thank you! 

You'll stop in Valladolid where the local guide will share some history. Before you return home for a well-deserved rest. Tonight we're bringing our chef back and pairing dinner with a private tequila and mezcal tasting.

On the final morning, you can sleep in or go for a swim before breakfast. This morning you'll have a professional photo shoot before heading to Playa del Carmen in the afternoon. Here you'll have free time to explore Playa's popular Quinta Avenida for souvenir shopping and site seeing. 

Tonight you'll enjoy a gastronomic experience at a local cooking class. Followed by your Farewell Fiesta at a local restaurant.
