I’m an award winning floral designer and shopkeeper indulging my late in life wanderlust. Sharing Mexico with others is my love language. I believe in slow travel, cultivating authentic cross cultural experiences, reciprocity, eating well and having fun. With two decades of travel experience, I’ve carefully curated my tours to take you places you might otherwise never see and to visit people who are world class artisans and caretakers of their cultural heritage.

I went with a friend on her recommendation not knowing much about the tour but focus was on the arts and crafts of the area plus the ruins and culture of the area which sparks my interest. I was not disappointed. The accommodations were delightful, beautiful setting with feeling of privacy and relaxation. The days were filled with knowledgeable yet traditional artesian. Time for learning, socialization and relaxation. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Food great. Thank you Jewel!

Mitla is a friendly little pueblo, located in a valley containing artisians of all kinds as well as ancient Zapotec ruins. Jewel obviously loves this area and its people, and, is eager to share her passion for it. We saw few tourists, which, for me, is a plus. The pace was as active as you wanted, with many activities taking place in the mornings, with afternoons free time. Casa Lyobaa was fantastic! Most meals were lovingly prepared by a local family, using local ingredients. Our hosts and their staff took wonderful care of us. I would almost call this a “cultural immersion” retreat, with the opportunity to make new friends, have great experiences, and still relax! I fell in love with this part of Mexico, and, hopefully, will get another opportunity to join Jewel on another adventure!

Jewel was a great tour guide. She did everything she could to fill our days with adventure, learning and relaxing. Everyone on the trip was friendly, fun and interesting to get to know. We left the trip as friends, not just travel mates. Jewel hired a private chef (really a family) who wined and dined us with delicious authentic Mexican food. They became a part of our travel family. The acomodations were beautiful and theolwners gave us a great botanical tour of the grounds. All in alll, the trip was fantastic. Thank you Jewel for putting this experience together.

The tour was just the right balance of activity and relax time. We saw ruins with good guides who could bring additional information to light. The complex where we stayed was very comfortable and reflected the culture of the area. Most meals were provided and used local recipes and ingredients. Jewel has vetted artisans in the area, and she took us where the products were good quality and the artists were welcoming and willing to take the time to educate us on their process. There was a nice mix of ruins, workshops, churches, markets, caves, museums and agriculture. Perhaps people interested in this tour have similar natures, but our group of 10 was very compatible.

This is my 3rd trip with Jewel and all of them have been excepting, but this one was the very best! Jewel is so thoughtful about choosing great adventures in culture, art and exposure to wonderful local people. Her passion for the world of Mexico is so clear and enriches those who are lucky enough to be with her there. She always gives the group leisure time almost daily, brings in amazing cooks or takes us to fabulous culinary experiences. I cannot recommend her tours enough. I'll be signing up for her next one without a doubt!
