About this trip

Artfields is considered to be  THE SOUTH'S MOST ENGAGING ART COMPETITION AND FESTIVAL.

ArtFields started in 2013 with a simple goal: honor the artists of the Southeast with a week’s worth of celebration and competition in the heart of a traditional Southern small town.   Artfields is located in Lake City, SC, one hour west of North Myrtle Beach.

More than 400 masterpieces will be displayed in locally-owned venues, from renovated circa 1920s warehouses and Smithsonian-qualified art galleries to upscale restaurants and start-up boutiques, in a celebration of art and community.  What was once one of South Carolina’s most prosperous agricultural communities becomes a living art gallery as the town recognizes, celebrates, and shares the artistic talent of the Southeast.   As you explore the town, you will learn about its history, enjoy a variety of unique shops and have opportunity to cast your vote on your favorite art.   Before leaving Lake City we also make a stop at Moore Farms Botanical Garden.   Nestled among fields of corn and soybeans, this is a dynamic and wildly beautiful blend of plant displays, bounding meadows and vistas of green-grey pines.

I love to travel so in my partially retired life I decided to adapt my passion for travel along with 25 years of experience in Travel & Tourism to create Trips by Patty. I received a BA in American History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Not knowing what I was going to do with that degree, I started working as a desk clerk at a hotel in Raleigh. I enjoyed the hotel business and the career path began. Hotel operations and sales, Convention Center operations and marketing, destination marketing with a Convention Visitors Bureau and even a stint as a tour guide. What happened to the history degree? Well, many times when I am escorting my trips I share the history of the destinations we visit. It's a great feeling to take your career skills and adapt them to your own small business. I love what I do and hope you'll join me on a trip one day!

Patty is very well organized. Plenty of info before the trip. Unexpected snacks and water on the bus was a nice perk. The list of lunch options allowed us some preplanning prior to getting to town. Great job Patty!👏

The trip was well organized, as usual. We had time for a nice lunch and the play was great - just not fantastic. That is not Patty's fault. I just didn't get "moved" by it. Thanks, Patty!!

All trips I’ve been on have been great. I wish we had more time to see all the houses on the New Bern trip.

We had a great trip. As a group we all saw the 1st 3 houses. Then we went to town and had the freedom to enjoy lunch, more houses on the house tour, or maybe help boost the economy by visiting a few shops. Patty was, as always, a great hostess.
