About this trip

This 3 day/2 night trip is bountiful with offerings of spring blooms, archaeological and art treasures in Asheville and Winston Salem.   It features the annual Biltmore Blooms with its resplendent garden and conservatory along with a visit to the NC Arboretum, offering one of the most unique bonsai collections in the United States.  Other features include a self-guided audio tour of the Biltmore House, a Premium Property driving tour of the Biltmore Estate grounds and a visit to the world's most complete Tutankhamun exhibition - this is the only experience that reveals the historical connections between the monumental discovery and the Vanderbilt-Cecil family.  Beyond Biltmore experiences include a narrated tour of Asheville by a local historian and a stop in Winston Salem to enjoy the Reynolda Gardens and the Andrew Wyeth art exhibit at Reynolda House Museum of American

I love to travel so in my partially retired life I decided to adapt my passion for travel along with 25 years of experience in Travel & Tourism to create Trips by Patty. I received a BA in American History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Not knowing what I was going to do with that degree, I started working as a desk clerk at a hotel in Raleigh. I enjoyed the hotel business and the career path began. Hotel operations and sales, Convention Center operations and marketing, destination marketing with a Convention Visitors Bureau and even a stint as a tour guide. What happened to the history degree? Well, many times when I am escorting my trips I share the history of the destinations we visit. It's a great feeling to take your career skills and adapt them to your own small business. I love what I do and hope you'll join me on a trip one day!

We had a great trip. Our docent for the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum was knowledgeable and engaging. Loved the art and history of the adjacent churches. Shops and restaurants were fun to visit.

Another great trip with Patty! Everything was (as always) well organized, and the tours were amazing. We learned a lot and had ample time to roam on our own. Donnie, the driver, is the absolute best. Many, many thanks!

This trip had a good combination of interesting sights, educational sessions (art, traditions, local geography) and leisure time. The bus ride was broken up by stops in North Carolina small communities so the ride did not seem so long. Patty does her research and strives to make sure everyone is having a good time. She is also very organized.
