Your Australian adventure begins in tropical Cairns, where you'll meet your fellow travellers and settle into your accommodation. This relaxed first day gives everyone time to arrive, unpack and get to know the group before the adventures begin.
In the evening, we'll come together for a welcome dinner featuring delicious vegan food, with plenty of time to chat about the incredible places we'll be exploring over the coming days.
Today we experience Kuranda in a slightly different way. We’ll begin with the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway, winding its way from Cairns through the rainforest and Barron Gorge to the mountain village of Kuranda.
There’ll be time to explore Kuranda’s markets, local crafts and rainforest surroundings, as well as enjoy a vegan lunch and some free time to wander at your own pace.
In the afternoon we’ll visit Batreach Bat Rescue & Rehabilitation for a private experience learning about flying foxes and the important role they play in Australia’s ecosystems.
We’ll then make our way back through the rainforest on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, with opportunities to stop and appreciate the rainforest from above before returning to Cairns.
Today is one of the big highlights of the tour — a full-day adventure on the Great Barrier Reef. We’ll head out to the Outer Reef to discover one of the world's most extraordinary marine environments.
Snorkelling will be an option for those who want to get into the water, but the day is about much more than simply swimming. We’ll have the opportunity to discover the Reef and learn about its incredible marine life and fragile ecosystem, with an operator chosen for its environmental and conservation credentials and its ability to cater well for vegan guests.
Today is yours to enjoy however you choose. After the excitement of yesterday, it's a chance to slow down and make the most of Cairns at your own pace.
Perhaps you'll explore the shops and markets, stroll along the waterfront, relax beside the pool or treat yourself to a spa treatment. Or simply find a quiet spot and enjoy having nowhere you need to be.
With the tropical surroundings and plenty of vegan dining options, it's a lovely opportunity to recharge before our next adventure.
This morning we leave Cairns and travel north by private minibus towards Port Douglas. It’s only around an hour’s drive, so rather than feeling like a travel day, we’ll have plenty of time to enjoy a relaxed morning and take in the changing scenery as we head towards the coast.
In the afternoon we’ll experience a Kuku Yalanji cultural experience at Mossman Gorge, learning more about the traditional custodians of this beautiful part of the Daintree region and their deep connection to Country. We’ll then settle into our Port Douglas accommodation for the next two nights.
Today we venture deep into the Daintree, one of the world’s oldest tropical rainforests. We’ll spend the full day exploring this extraordinary part of Far North Queensland, surrounded by lush rainforest, ancient trees and an incredible variety of wildlife.
This morning, we'll say goodbye to tropical North Queensland and travel from Port Douglas to Cairns Airport for our flight to Uluru. Today we'll swap lush rainforests and tropical coastlines for the vast, red landscapes of Australia's spectacular Red Centre.
On arrival, we'll transfer to our accommodation in Yulara, our base for the next four nights. We'll head into Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to watch the sunset over Uluru, seeing the enormous sandstone monolith change colour as the sun sinks towards the horizon. It's a wonderful introduction to this extraordinary part of Australia.
Today we'll discover Uluru up close and learn about its deep cultural significance to the Anangu people, the Traditional Owners of this land.
We'll join an Aboriginal-led guided experience around Uluru, gaining insight into the area's cultural stories, traditions and connection to Country. We'll also explore some of the walking tracks around the base of the rock, including the beautiful Mutitjulu Waterhole area, where striking rock formations and natural features reveal another side of Uluru.
We'll visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to learn more about Anangu culture and traditions and explore the Aboriginal-owned art galleries. It's a day that combines spectacular scenery with a deeper understanding of why this landscape holds such profound significance.
Today we'll explore Kata Tjuta, an extraordinary group of 36 enormous rock domes rising from the surrounding desert. Although Uluru often steals the spotlight, Kata Tjuta is equally impressive and offers some of the region's most spectacular scenery.
We'll visit a scenic lookout for panoramic views before taking a walk through the dramatic landscape. Walpa Gorge is a wonderful option, with a trail winding between towering rock walls and through a landscape shaped over millions of years. Depending on the group's interests, fitness and weather conditions, there may also be an opportunity to explore part of the Valley of the Winds walking trail.
It's a day to appreciate the scale and beauty of the Red Centre, with time for photographs and to enjoy the unique desert environment before returning to Yulara.
Today we'll enjoy a hands-on introduction to Aboriginal art with a dot-painting workshop led by Anangu artists through Maruku Arts. We'll learn about the traditions and techniques behind this distinctive art form and have the opportunity to create our own painting to take home.
It's a lovely way to build on what we've learned during our cultural tour around Uluru and gain a greater appreciation of the stories and artistic traditions connected to this region.
For our final evening, we'll have the opportunity to experience the spectacular Field of Light installation and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the outback beneath a star-filled sky.
After breakfast, it's time to say goodbye to Uluru and the incredible landscapes of Australia's Red Centre. We'll transfer to Ayers Rock Airport for our flight to Sydney where our tour ends, taking home wonderful memories of the Great Barrier Reef, ancient rainforests, Uluru, Kata Tjuta and the cultural experiences we've shared along the way.
We'll also be leaving with lots of photos, new friendships and a deeper appreciation of Australia's extraordinary natural and cultural heritage.
