AUSTRIA PEAK HIKING - CORDILLERA REAL FROM LA PAZ- BOLIVIA: 

We will arrive by 4x4 vehicle. The hike begins at "La rinconada" at an altitude of 4,450 meters. We will enjoy the landscapes, crossing two or two lagoons: Khaunani Khota (4550 m), ChiarQuta (4,700 meters) then we will reach to the Austria peak (5350 m),  where we will enjoy the beauty of this place that inspires peace and tranquility.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: MEDIUM: from 4,450 to 5350 meters.

DISTANCE: Approximately 10 km (round trip).

The Cordillera Real is an imposing and beautiful mountain range located in western Bolivia, east of the Altiplano. It is part of the Eastern Andes and stretches for approximately 125 kilometers, from the Tres Cruces massif in the south to the Illampu snow-capped mountain in the north.

Main characteristics:

Elevation: It is one of the highest mountain ranges in Bolivia. Its snow-capped peaks frequently exceed 6,000 meters above sea level.

Iconic peaks: Among its most famous peaks are Illimani (6,462 m), considered the emblem of the city of La Paz, and Huayna Potosí (6,088 m), one of the most accessible six-thousanders in the world for climbing. Other important peaks are Ancohuma, Illampu, and Mururata.

Glaciers: The Cordillera Real is home to numerous glaciers, although unfortunately, they are retreating at an accelerated rate due to climate change. These glaciers are a vital source of fresh water for local communities and the city of La Paz.
