About this trip

Take time for yourself. Slow down. Find rest. Detox from stress.
Practice tools for self-care and build self-awareness.

AWAKEN THE INNER WISDOM of your whole being by connecting with the many parts of your selves: the physical, mental, emotional, and energy body. When we practice awareness and a healthy relationship with ourselves, it extends out into our relationships, job, lifestyle, and how we engage with the world.

YOGA can be for EVERY BODY and experienced in a non-competitive environment where the vibe is warm, gentle, supportive, and fun. Our Hatha yoga classes are suited for all levels with the goal being self-care, not advanced poses. In addition to yoga, you will experience a variety of unique wellness modalities.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I'm a little nervous about joining this retreat. I'm not sure if I will fit in. How do I know if this retreat is right for me?
A:  This is not yoga or meditation boot camp! Yoga is not about showing off your body or contorting yourself into poses that go past your limits. It's about building the relationship to yourself and noticing what's happening on the inside-- your physical, mental, emotional, and energetic sensations.

Q: Do I need to join all the sessions?
A: Absolutely not. Everything is optional! To get the most out of the retreat program, I would recommend trying to go to as many sessions as you are up for. Remember your intention for the retreat.

Q: What time is check-in and check-out?
A: Check-in opens at 2 pm, with the welcome circle beginning at 5:30 pm. Please ensure that your flight to Chiang Mai arrives by 4 pm to be able to join the first session. Check-out will be 12 pm, and the retreat will end at 11:30 am.

Q: I've never had more than two consecutive vegetarian meals before. Am I going to be okay?
A: You'll be more than okay! You'll be surprised and delighted by the flavorful and creative vegetarian meals.

Q: Will there be coffee?
A: YES!

Q: How do I get to Mala Dhara?
A: Located 45 minutes from the old city of Chiang Mai, Thailand, Mala Dhara Eco Resort is set among the rice fields in a quaint village. If you will be flying, there are several cheap flights offered from the domestic airport in Bangkok (DMK) through Air Asia and Nok Air to Chiang Mai (CNX). Sometimes, Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways also have good deals, and they fly from the international airport in Bangkok (BKK) to Chiang Mai (CNX). Many international airlines fly to Chiang Mai, ie. Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Incheon/Seoul (ICN), etc. An airport transfer from CNX (Chiang Mai airport) directly to Mala Dhara is included in your retreat rate. If you will already be in Chiang Mai, there will be a designated meeting point in the old city to transfer guests via sangthaew (pick-up truck with 2 benches) to Mala Dhara.

Q: What's the weather like?
A: Generally, the early mornings and late evening will be pleasantly cool in late November. Long pants and a long sleeved top of light material will be enough. From late morning until sunset, the temperature will be warm and/or hot.

Q: What should I bring?
A: Mala Dhara (and Thailand in general) has a casual atmosphere. Clothes for yoga/meditation, day wear, and swim wear is enough. Some people like to dress up for dinner, but this is not required. Wear footwear that is easy to slip on and off since you'll be taking off your shoes before entering the yoga/meditation rooms. A hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellant, water bottle, a journal, sarong, and a flashlight are all handy.

Q: How much money should I bring?
A:
You can add any extra purchases onto your bill and pay by credit card upon check-out. This includes: massage treatments, bicycle/motorbike rental, extra orders from the restaurant, and gratuity. Alternatively, you can also pay in cash (Thai baht). There are no currency exchange services at Mala Dhara. You can exchange money at the Chiang Mai airport or in town.
