Away to Africa is excited to introduce our 'Best of Two Islands' Tour highlighting the beautiful islands of Lamu and Zanzibar just in time for end of the year celebrations.  

You will begin this tour in Zanzibar, or the ‘black coast’, is a Tanzanian archipelago off the coast of East Africa. Boasting beautiful beaches, Zanzibar is the perfect place to find relaxation.  Walk through the cobblestone streets of Stone Town before learning of the East African slave trade.  Wake up oceanfront in Nungwi, spend a day out in the ocean on our Safari Blue Tour and even spend time swimming with large sea turtles. 

Next you will travel to the vibrant city of Nairobi for a couple of days before heading to the quaint archipelago of islands known as Lamu.  Spend time getting lost in the walkways of Old Lamu Town as this friendly town offers a hidden gem around every corner.  Enjoy a dhow experience as you sail through the mangroves or spend your time relaxing on the white sands of Manda Island...either way you will definitely leave with a piece of Lamu in your heart.

Ring in the New Year dancing on the beach under the stars of East Africa.  What better way to introduce a blissful year that 2023 has to offer? 

Karibu Zanzibar! Welcome to Zanzibar!

After arriving the Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Zanzibar, Tanzania (TNZ), relax, unwind and take in the amazing breeze of this beautiful island once referred to as zang-bâr signifying “Black Coast’.

Enjoy the evening relaxing on your beachfront property as you take in the sunset of the beautiful East African sun over the ocean.

ALL MEALS INCLUDED

After breakfast your personal Away to Africa driver will pick you up to head to Stone Town and learn the history of Zanzibar serving as a transit for slaves in the East African Slave Trade. 

Afterwards you will travel into town and for your Spice Tour where you will question if you are in Africa or Jamaica. Smell and taste the seasonings and fruits before sitting to have a hearty lunch and fresh fruit at the conclusion of your tour.

We hope you are prepared to swim as today you will go snorkeling on our guided, Safari Blue Tour. Travel to three different banks that disappear upon sunset. View the beautiful coral and fish as you snorkel and swim in the beautiful sea.

Afterwards, you will have a special seafood lunch prepared for you before heading to the natural lagoon and heading back to shore.

Today is all relaxation and fun! Spend the afternoon with friends listening to music, playing beach futbol and volleyball, or yoga. Enjoy the beach and sunshine while reading a book or napping on a hammock. Have drinks on Away to Africa during your beachside lunch.

You’ll close the night on an evening cruise watching the African sunset over the Indian Ocean. Take time and reflect on your visit to Zanzibar.

Today we will take a short flight into the capitol of Kenya, Nairobi.

After you checkin and relax, you have the option of heading to a dinner at a restaurant overlooking the Nairobi skyline. 

This morning you will take in the sites and maybe some kisses from giraffes at the Giraffe Center. Spend time with the elephants from the Elephant Sanctuary in Nairobi National Park and then visit the Masai Market for a bit of shopping.

Wind down the evening with a traditional dinner.

Take a flight to one of our favorite Islands in Africa, Lamu. 

On arrival, you will take a boat to your accommodation, check in, and have a relaxing meal along the seafront.

Spend the remainder of the evening with a glass of wine as we toast to the good life.

Today you will venture to the more vibrant area, Lamu Town.

Walk the cobblestone alleyways of Lamu, learn Swahili and the history and culture of the island that is known for its serenity – and absence of cars.

After lunch and we will meet with a group of young drummers from town who will teach you how to drum and learn a few Swahili dances.

Sleep in late today and spend your day as you please or relaxing on the beach.  

Take an early evening Dhow sail as you watch the sunset for the last day of 2020.  Enjoy fresh fruit as we sail through the mangroves and listen to music.

Afterwards you relax beachside for dinner before heading out to the New Years party on the beach.  Ring in the New Year  watching shooting stars and dancing on the beach!

Today is one of the highlights of the tour as you spend the day watching the annual Dhow race!

You will have the option to follow behind on a boat or relax oceanfront as you enjoy a few drinks watching the race.
