Can you feel it calling?
The slow rhythm of your breath syncing with the land…
The gentle wisdom of a horse’s gaze softening your edges…
The sun rising over ancient desert hills as you return—fully, quietly—to yourself.
We’re so honored to open the sacred space for Back to Self: A 5-Day Desert Retreat this April on the ancestral lands of the Tohono O’odham people, also known as Tucson, Arizona. This is not just a retreat—it is a homecoming.
Together we will restore, build trust, and come into our relational power. Sacred spaces will be held to activate the energies of safety, presence and awareness. Through restorative practices, we will learn to embrace our own rhythm and activate the innate resources of the human heart and spirit!
Enjoy yummy meals, swim, sit in ceremony, be at peace with the horses, commune with nature, learn about local plants, and play as we co-create a loving community and reclaim our belonging to the earth!
At the heart of this retreat, we will engage in three Equine Assisted Somatic Experientials™ sessions in partnership with Equinimity. Equinimity is a community based non-profit centering the healing of trauma on the individual and collective level. Equinimity encourages us to acknowledge our inherent interconnectedness of all life to feel more whole. During our retreat, we will engage with the horses to draw on the personal exploration of the center. Equine Assisted Somatic Experientials™ is a form of personal growth and development that works with the heart-centered presence of the horse to facilitate deep healing. For humans who might be stressed or anxious, horses can offer a calming presence. Our systems can reflexively mirror this ease.
This retreat is open to all humans who want to reconnect with nature, experience their authentic wholeness, and awaken to their inherent wisdom to move with confidence towards their life's calling.
Nita, Josie, and Ashley the entire Equinimity somatic team are excited to guide you on a journey of embodiment and creative arts. To learn more about the retreat team please go to our website at akiliwell.com.
Equinimity services diverse populations, and welcomes persons of all identities.

We understand that investing in yourself is often the hardest part, and we're happy to engage in that process with you through Ashley's financial empowerment coaching.
We currently have four $500 scholarships available. We ask that you reflect on your personal finances, your socioeconomic status, and if receiving this additional support is necessary or if it should be available to someone else who may need this in order to come at all. For those interested in scholarship, please Complete the scholarship application. Scholarship recipients will be notified on an ongoing basis. First come, first served. The scholarship deadline is Dec. 1st. If selected, your deposit will be expected by December 15th.
