The first day is chilled so you can shake off the jetlag. In the evening we'll have a briefing from the group leader and the opportunity to meet with the rest of the group before the real experience begins!

- Lions Head Hike,
- Peninsula Tour,
- Cape Point Nature Reserve,
- Penguins,

- Wine Farm Visit
There's a lot more going to happen too. See our online itinerary for more details.
Bye-Bye Cape Town, it's time to hit the road! We start by taking a drive into Hermanus, South Africa's Whale nursery where you can do some of the best shore based whale watching in the world! We'll be here 1 night taking in the awesome scenery.
Just outside of Hermanus is the Panthera Big Cat Sanctuary where we'll go and learn about the plight of many of South Africa's endangered big cats and their struggles with humans. No photos holding cubs, no drugged up lions, only rescued big cats in a wholesome environment that's doing their part to improve the lives of these felines!
Onwards we head to Montagu, a small town in the mountains and our start of the lesser known Route 62 (a more scenic route to the busier highway connecting Cape Town to the Garden Route). Montagu has some secrets up it's sleeve and we'll spend one night here to see them firsthand before heading to the start of the Garden Route.
After winding our way through the mountains it's time for the Garden Route. We start by taking in some of the most scenic mountain views SA has to offer and making a few pit stops at some unique spots along Route 62.
Did you know Route 62 has been rated as one of the World's Top 10 Road Trips?
Before we get back to the coast we'll visit the town of Oudtshoorn the ostrich capital of the world and explore the vast Cango Caves.
One more drive to our next stop right on the beach is Sedgefield and our start of the Garden Route. We're spending 2 nights here for you to chill out and take a break from the road. Sun, beach and nature await!
From Sedgefield to Natures Valley we'll spend half a day in the city of Knysna where we'll take a boat trip to the Knysna Heads, visit the Featherbed Nature Reserve and have an awesome meal overlooking the lagoon! We'll even do some oyster tasting and beer sampling.
Then it's on to the magnificent Natures Valley in the heart of the Tsitsikamma Forests! This pristine area is home to adventure where we'll be doing such things as Kayaking, Hiking and Bungee Jumping!
After ticking off the Garden Route it's onwards to SA's surf mecca, Jeffrey's Bay. You're totally going to try out some surfing and going to catch some waves at this beautiful beachside town! It's also a hub for surf outlets, so prepare for a dose of retail therapy.
Next stop is the Addo ELephant Park, South Africa's third largest nature reserve and home to the Big Seven. This tranquil stop offers a chance to connect with nature and experience the amazing wildlife of South Africa! We'll be going on night drives, having bush braais and hopefully seeing the Big Seven!
Our last stop on this part of the trip is the small town of Kenton on Sea, a special place that not many tourists stop off at and close to our hearts. It's mainly a holiday town for locals but we're spending 2 nights here because it's that amazing! You'll just have to trust us on this one, the beaches are second to none and we've got a few special things in store for you while we're here!
The final stop is Port Elizabeth and what a special place it is to say goodbye to your new friends and plan for what's next to do on your trip to South Africa.
All good things come to an end, but that doesn't mean your Backpacking journey of South Africa is over. We're here to help with your onward travel plans and will arrange for you to get to the airport for any onward flights whether it's back home or onto another stop in South Africa.
Goodbye's are never easy, especially after making so many new friends, exchange contact details with your new fam and take loads of pictures because these memories are worth keeping!
We've enjoyed the time we spent together on this awesome experience.
