About this trip

About this trip

Join us on an epic adventure that is close to home in La Paz, Baja Sur, Mexico. This snorkeling safari and wildlife adventure is the perfect combination of R&R and guided activities. You will snorkel with sea lions, whale sharks and have amazing up-close encounters with gray whales in Magdalena Bay.

Spend four unforgettable nights glamping on Espiritu Santo Island — a billion-star resort, of which The Travel Magazine has dubbed as “absurdly beautiful” and swimming in its water is like “swimming in a bottle of Curacao.”  Enjoy chef-prepared meals with fresh ingredients brought in daily, a variety of beverages, and the support of a full crew.

From our camp, we have quick access to the best of Espiritu Santo Island.  Each day is filled with fun outdoor adventures including snorkeling with sea lions at Los Islotes, hiking through pristine desert, and sea kayaking along towering volcanic arches.  On our way back to La Paz, we stop in the Bay of La Paz to get gill-to-snorkel with the largest fish in the world, - the whale shark!

Have you ever looked a whale in the eye? One night and two days will be spent in Puerto Lopez Mateos,  gateway to Magdalena Bay. We will meet Gray Whales up-close and personal. Baby gray whales are like puppies. They come right up to the boat to check you out.

Trip Highlights:

  • Snorkel & free-dive in a place Jacque Cousteau named, “The Word’s Aquarium.”
  • Glamp on one of the world’s most beautiful bays – it’s not roughing it at all.
  • Guided snorkeling trips in small groups to explore coral reefs, rocky reefs, and sandy bays.
  • Sea kayak along volcanic rocks, sea caves, and arches to get up close to shore birds and sea lions.

A wonderful trip for anyone who loves the ocean! So much wildlife and a much larger appreciation for the island of Roatan. Never a boring day, great food, even better people. Scuba not required but heavily recommended.

This trip was refreshing and it certainly kept my attention! Iceland gave us dramatic beauty, a large variety of experiences, and for me, exposure to a different way of governing and living. Tara was, of course, enthusiastic, aware and in charge every step of the way and she solved small problems efficiently. Thora (driver and guide) was an excellent companion for us all and very knowledgeable. The other guides (kayaking, horseback riding, iceberg exploring, and so on) were also skilled and always friendly. I was a single traveler and enjoyed meeting the groups of women from elsewhere. Good job, Tara!

A trip of a lifetime! By signing up with Green Edventures, I had incredible experiences I never would have known to choose for myself...glacier treks, sea kayaking near seals, soaking a in a hot river, and riding horses on the beach! Tara created an amazing trip, choosing the best of the best activities engaging all ages and skill levels. She was very aware of every individual's needs and limitations, kept us well informed, made sure we learned about the land and culture, and had a ton of fun. I will definitely choose Green Edventures for another trip in the future.

If you could rate Roatan a six star, I would! This is an incredible and unforgettable experience. Green EDVENTURES and Aimee Lowe know how to run a trip. Anthony's Key Resort has been remodeled making the grounds breathtaking and very safe. The bungalows over the water are cute! The food was on point with fresh fish options every night (plus delicious American food choices). They accommodate any allergy. We dove 11 times and saw the most amazing marine life. The dive masters are always looking out for you. If you are on the edge of taking a trip, let this be the final review you read.....SIGN UP NOW! You will not regret seeing the marine life, learning at the RIMS (Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences), relaxing in the pool between the coolest dives, and being around like minded people! There wasn't a thing I would change about this trip. PERFECT!

THe only thing stopping me from putting 5 stars is that the mountain huts were not great - I prefer to sleep more privately and I think my fellow travelers would prefer not to hear me snore. However, the vistas, the landscapes, the waterfalls, the sky, the earth--WOW. I am so glad I went on this trip! I was so impressed by the organizer, Tara, and the trail guide, Thora. If you are in shape to hike 55 rugged kilometers and love the outdoors in all weather, I highly recommend this trip. Bring good rain gear and lots of layers, and your camera!

I went on an amazing trip with Tara to Baja, Mexico in 2020. This was a dream trip for me being a wildlife lover. It was incredible to be able to swim with whale sharks and sea lions and get up close with gray whales. Camping on the beach was amazing. We had a great group of women and everyone vibed well and all of the tour guides including Tara, Alex and Chabello were so fun, friendly and helpful every step of the way. The food was great at the campsite and at the restaurants we got to try. When our trip plans initially got derailed waiting on a negative Covid test and we had to get a different flight, Tara did everything in her power to accommodate us and make sure we got to enjoy every part of the trip, including setting us up with another whale shark swimming tour after we had missed the initial one with the group, and she spent time waiting for us to finish before leaving for the airport. I definitely recommend Green Edventures, especially the Baja Mexico trip!

I just returned from the Wisconsin Women's Tour and couldn't have asked for a better trip! For me, the amount and type of activity were perfect. Who know there was so much to discover practically in my own backyard?
