What to expect

Chinese philosophy refers to yin and yang as two complementary energies that are interconnected and interdependent, creating all aspects of life. Yin energy is inward energy, passive, feminine, and cool. The masculine energy of yang is outward energy, active and heated; yin represents surrendering into what is, while yang represents activity and action.


Our yin practices involve holding positions that stress and renew the deep, dense connective tissues. The method includes using many variations and props within the postures to relax within the target area as we hold the pose for extended periods. Within this stillness, we can then become receptive and reflective to what is happening, within and around the body, while also noticing our reactions and responses. These long-held poses can often lead to physical and mental discomfort, opening an opportunity to learn to tolerate discomfort and surrender to what is. Despite looking easy, it is a resilience practice & has its challenges.


Yang yoga is a more energetic yoga practice that targets the muscular tissue and, through movement, creates heat. Muscles love to get warm; they are elastic and moist, so they appreciate this form of exercise and respond well to it. Rather than emphasizing surrender, our Yang practices promote action. By creating heat within the body, these styles increase blood flow, our circulation, build strength, stamina, & flexibility while helping you learn patience and endurance.


If we constantly push our lives forward and lead a very yang life, we can burn our energy rather than conserve it. On the other hand, if we overtly draw inwards, this can lead to a sedentary lifestyle; we can move away from being present and fall into the past. An overbalance of yin or yang can create disharmonies. They need to co-exist for our lives to be in balance. 


As yoga practitioners, we can often lose our sensitivity to the body's signals, focusing on achieving results rather than feeling. Therefore, it is essential to incorporate yin and yang styles to promote unity within our yoga practice. By exploring the contrast between the strength and power of a yang practice and the grace and surrender within a yin practice, you will learn how to implement a mixture of Yin and Yang practices throughout your yoga schedule and practice both Yin and Yang aspects within one class effectively.


As we blend both styles within this retreat, together with motivating workshops, you will leave with increased flexibility and strength; harmonious balance in both body, mind, and inspiration for your journey ahead.

Yoga Dunia is located on the magical island paradise of Nusa Lembongan, just a short 30-minute boat ride from beautiful Bali. A small, peaceful island, Nusa Lembongan is covered with pristine white sand beaches, warm turquoise waters, and lush jungle. Just as beautiful as Bali, but tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the tourism crowds, Nusa Lembongan is the perfect place to escape to for a transformational spiritual journey through yoga.

I really enjoyed the personal development I got out of this experience. All three staff members, Audrey, Zara Ra and Delphine were so helpful through the whole process. I hope to come back to this little island one day. The morning meals were fantastic, it was a bit tough to focus with the humidity ( floor fans would be a good idea). I loved that there was a pool on the grounds to cool off at and it was a very inviting environment. Thank you all for a wonderful and much needed experience.

Thank you for your request. I would be happy to give my experience and perspective of my stay. Frame: Excellent setting on a tropical island, very good and healthy breakfast, homemade tea and fruit juice throughout the day. Very nice institute and a very competent and warm trainer! — As a customer who was looking forward to her first yoga asana training: Unfortunately, this week was anything but pleasant for me. I have taken many courses and seminars over the years (I'm in my mid-50s) and have always gone home stronger and made new friends. As part of a “yoga teacher training” of all places, I felt excluded, neither seen nor heard. One of the participants (certified yoga teachers) yelled at me when I wanted to give my perspective on a situation/misinterpretation. I left the center and felt the impulse to stop training, which in retrospect might have been beneficial. The situation reminded me of children's birthday parties, where the adults do not (or cannot) sufficiently fulfill their role as peacemakers and the excluded child is picked up. — Feedback from the perspective of a SeminarCenter founder and leader, long-time trainer of multicultural groups and lifestyle coach: The dissatisfaction resulted, among other things, from the course offering (also open to non-yoga certified participants like me), which was not sufficiently defined and whose potential was not exhausted. Our trainer set initiatives in the form of food for thought to improve the mood. The secretariat tried to please everyone. The problem could have been solved immediately by addressing it directly so that it didn't overshadow the remaining training days like a cloud. — as a yoga practitioner: I would like to thank everyone involved for the experiences I was able to have. I am sorry that we have not been able to create a peaceful space within this framework. I look forward to meeting everyone again and doing better next time. Namaste. YTT 200 hr training was a life changer and so much more than I expected. The training was immersive and provided strong foundational knowledge and practice of Yin and Yang. The Yoga Teacher Training through Akira Yoga, at Yoga Dunia, with Claire was truly amazing! I felt so welcomed as soon as I walked in, supported to learn, and encouraged to ask questions! We managed to have so much fun and explore the island (thanks to Claire’s contacts and expertise), all while learning Yin Yoga and the incredibly wise medicine of Chinese Tradition ❤️ Claire’s knowledge of the human body is so impressive, at a level equivalent to my medical training! Felt comfortable teaching my first yin class by the end of the training, and would absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves yoga, yummy food, meeting interesting people and wanting to focus on self-love and improvement!
