Passports & Travel Visas

Singapore

U.S. citizens must have a passport which is valid for at least 90 days after your return date, though we strongly recommend at least six months.

U.S. passport holders do not need a visa to enter Singapore for stays up to 90 days. See the U.S. Dept. of State website for more information.

Bali

You will need a passport that is valid for at least six months beyond the date of your return from Indonesia.  Your passport must also have two blank pages, not including endorsement pages.

U.S. passport holders may apply for visa exemption. This is a stamp you receive in your passport when you arrive at the airport.  There is no fee.  If your purpose of travel is purely for tourism and you are certain that you will depart after 30 days, consider requesting Visa Exemption.  U.S. citizens who enter Indonesia under Visa Exemption must depart after 30 days; no extension is allowed and no adjustment to another visa status is permitted.  See the U.S. Dept. of State website for more information.

Visa Fees (if required) visit  The Official eVisa website for Indonesia

Entry Requirements

Health Pass Form

Important update from the Indonesian Government, effective immediately, following the classification of Mpox as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) by the WHO on August 14, 2024.

All passengers and aircraft personnel traveling from abroad are now required to fill in a Health Pass prior to entry into Indonesia.

Please complete the form before boarding your flight to Bali.

Click here to access the Health Pass Form

After filling in the form completely, a QR Code and personal data information will appear.

Return or Onward Ticket

US citizens must present a return or onward flight ticket upon arrival in Bali. This requirement ensures that travelers plan to leave Indonesia within the allowed visa period.

US citizens need a visa to visit Bali, and two blank pages in their passport. Here are two options:

Visa on Arrival (VoA)

Upon arrival in Bali, US citizens can obtain a Visa on Arrival (VoA). This visa allows for a 30-day stay and can be extended once for another 30 days, making it ideal for short-term tourists who might decide to extend their visit. For more details on the VoA, check the e-VOA service page.

Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA)

The e-VOA provides the same benefits as the traditional VoA but can be applied for online before your trip. This pre-arrival visa streamlines the entry process and reduces waiting times at the airport. To apply, visit the Indonesian immigration website. For more information, visit the e-VOA service page.

Culture and Traditions

Religious Practices: Bali is predominantly Hindu, and you’ll find many temples and religious ceremonies. Visitors are often welcome, but modest dress and respectful behavior are essential.

Religious and Cultural Etiquette:

  • Temple Etiquette: Always wear modest clothing when visiting temples. This typically means covering your shoulders and knees. Sarongs and sashes are often provided at temple entrances if needed.
  • Offerings: Small offerings called "canang sari" are placed on the ground and at altars as a form of prayer. Be mindful not to step on them.
  • Respect for Ceremonies: If you come across a religious procession or ceremony, observe respectfully from a distance. Photography may be allowed, but it's polite to ask first.

 Social Norms:

  • Greetings: A common greeting in Bali is to place your hands together in a prayer-like position and say "Om Swastiastu," which means "peace and greetings from God."
  • Personal Space: Balinese people value personal space. Avoid overly expressive body language or touching someone's head, as the head is considered sacred.
  • Left Hand Usage: Traditionally, the left hand is considered impolite for giving or receiving items. Always use your right hand or both hands

 Daily Life and Customs:

  • Bali Time: Life in Bali moves at a slower pace. Be patient and flexible with time schedules and appointments.
  • Language: Learning a few basic phrases in Bahasa Indonesia or Balinese, such as "terima kasih" (thank you) and "tolong" (please), can go a long way in showing respect and building rapport with locals.

Practical Tips:

  • Currency: The local currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
  • Language: Bahasa Indonesia is the official language, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas.
  • Transportation: Renting a scooter is a popular and convenient way to get around. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are also readily available.
  • Health and Safety: Drink bottled water, use sunscreen, and be cautious with street food if you have a sensitive stomach.

Individual and/or Group Air

One of the best things about going to Bali that stood out to me was the fact that there was no jet-lag, even though it takes over 24 hours to get there. You will have the option to purchase your own air (in case you want to use any types of airline miles/rewards), or you can purchase group air.

Note:   Keep in mind that group air is always booked in Economy. Most airlines typically do not allow upgrades, however, it varies from carrier to carrier.

Purchasing Your Own Individual Round-trip Air

If purchasing your own air, please book your flights to arrive into Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) on August 31, 2025. You may need to leave your home airport up to (2) days before your August 31st arrival date in Bali, Indonesia.

Adding on Group Round-trip Air

A minimum of 10 persons have to leave from the same departure city in order to hold group air space. Otherwise, you will have to pay your flight in full. If you opt-in to purchase group air, and we do not meet the minimum, we will still help you to purchase your air using your monthly payments, however, we will let you know prior to purchase of any fare difference. If you wish to purchase your own flights at that point, we will update and remove the air add-on from your booking. Once the deadline passes to opt-in to group air, you will NOT be able to add later. We will release any extra seats that are not deposited.

Cancellations and Refunds

All payments to Art N Soul Escapes are non-refundable and non-transferable. Art N Soul Escapes has contractual agreements with hotels, airlines and other vendors that will not allow us to obtain any refunds (unless you have purchased travel insurance). This way we can keep our package prices competitive and allow you to make monthly payments on your vacation. Deposits are always non-refundable.

Due to the vendor relationships that Art N Soul Escapes has with it's vendors, we try to keep from modifying or cancelling  our contractual agreements. Cancellations affect the entire group traveling.  Therefore, any member who cancels, cannot book another trip with us for 6 months from the cancellation date of a booked trip. There may be some exceptions (medical, death in the family, etc.) and will be determined by an ANSE Organizer on a case-by-case basis. If allowed to re-book another trip before the 6 month expiration, a minimum of 50% down will be required to book.
