About this trip

Barcelona beckons, promising Roman ruins, culinary adventures, chic shopping, psychedelic Antoni Gaudí architecture, and the gentle lap of the Mediterranean Sea.

Just south of the city, vineyards await. In Catalonia’s cava country grapes make their way from the vine to the bubbles in your glass. To the north lie the secluded coves of the Costa Brava, the strikingly beautiful region where painter Salvador Dalí was inspired to make his eccentric home with his partner Gala.

This trip truly exceeded our expectations in all aspects. We hiked for 7 days straight along the beautiful coastal towns of Costa Brava, situated north of Barcelona. The indescribable natural beauty we saw daily during our week long hike, the small group experience (there were only 6 of us), the delicious food, lovely hotels, the vastly experienced guides who also possessed and shared their knowledge of the local history and regional culture, made for an unforgettable adventure! Additional highlights: stumbling upon small, quiet, striking in their untouched beauty, beaches. Passing through gorgeous coastal towns where we stopped off to rest up from putting in miles of hiking to feast on some yummy food offerings such as Fideuà. This is a traditional seafood dish of Catalunya that is similar to paella, but with noodles instead of rice. Its main ingredients are pasta noodles, fish, and shellfish. It was absolutely divine! I will never forget the taste! The paella we were treated to as a group was unbelievable! We've returned from our adventure a week ago and I can still taste it!!! I hope that I will be able to find locally something close if not the exact same flavor and quality. Our trip organizer treated us to at least 4 dinners which were always special with unlimited wine flowing, appetizers, main dishes and desserts of our choice. Several dinners included private rooms which added an exclusive element to our group experience. We have also been lucky to have a nice group of folks from different parts of the US. We all managed to connect well and have a good time! Another highlight was a two night stay at the Hotel Trias in Palamos. We learned that Truman Capote was a frequent guest there in his day. No surprise there! The moment I walked into the hotel, I knew that I was in for a real treat! Gorgeous old world charm, sophistication, oversized rooms with expensive comfortable linens, lap pool, and the best part was the beach view from the room balcony. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. While hiking along the rugged coast, I literally had to pinch myself at the beauty surrounding me. Finally, the aspect of the trip that I most worried about, was the challenge of the hike itself. I must confess that not only did I hike it without skipping any corners but I also did it with zero blisters!!! Highly recommend this adventure with Bold Spirit Travel! Regina, the owner, knows her business very well and has very satisfied customers!!!

Mary Jane went beyond the call of duty to help us with all our needs. All of our tour guides were informative and entertaining. The thing we learned is to do Rome first before spending time in the Tuscan countryside. Rome is a bustling city and we lost our Tuscan Zen, but definitely worth seeing.

Sorrento, Capri and Positano Were amazing! I loved the culture, people and food! The stores and shopping were amazing too!
