About your trip

In this hands-on class, students will learn the art of bas-relief sculpture, an ancient technique where images modeled and sculpted onto a flat surface to create a three-dimensional effect. Throughout the class, students will explore the principles of composition, depth, and shadowing to make their sculptures come to life. The instructor will guide students through each stage, from initial design and concept to refining and finishing their pieces. Whether you're a beginner or experienced artist, this class is designed to inspire creativity and build a strong foundation for creating bas reliefs. By the end of the course, students will have a finished bas-relief artwork and a deep understanding of this beautiful sculptural technique.

Daphne Clark

Daphne was raised in rural North Dakota, near the Montana border, where she spent much of

her adolescence at her grandparent’s ranch; chasing cows, building fences, milking cows and

helping check for spring calves. She has always loved to be outside enjoying the nature that

North Dakota and Montana have to offer.

In 2012, Daphne enrolled at the Academy of Art University to pursue a Master’s in Fine Art. It

was a natural fit to bring together her background and love for ranching and the outdoors into

her art. Daphne believes there is a story in these rural areas just waiting to be told to the rest of

the world and she wants to tell that story through her paintings and sculptures.
