The Shrines of Italy pilgrimage takes you to many of the Catholic and cultural sites within and outside of Rome. You’ll visit the town of Orvieto where the Cathedral houses the corporal from the Eucharistic miracle of 1263 before heading to Assisi. After a visit in the beautiful hometown of St Francis and St Clare, the group heads to Florence. While here, you’ll tour the Churches of the Holy Cross and Santa Maria del Fiore, the L’Accademia art gallery and Ponte Vecchio and Republic Square. Next the group will visit Siena, birthplace of St Catherine of Siena, and tour the many churches and famous Piazza Del Campo. We conclude the pilgrimage in Rome with visits to the four Major Basilicas, Holy Mass at St Peter’s Basilica, the Angelus with Pope Francis and free time to stroll the Ancient City for shopping and magnificent Italian food.
Depart Chicago O’Hare Airport on a direct flight to Rome Fiumicino Airport. Our flight is on American Airlines and is scheduled to depart at 3:25pm (scheduled arrival 7:15am). At this time everyone is responsible for arriving at the airport on their own unless the Parish organizes bus transportation. We suggest you arrive 2.5 hours before departure. Two meals (dinner and light breakfast) will be served in flight.
