Spend a full day exploring the best of Ubud, Bali's cultural heart, and discover inspiring views, traditional homes, cheeky wildlife, and intricate arts and crafts.

The first stop is at Batuan village to visit a traditional Balinese house to understand its unique architectural traditions. According to the Hindu religion, every object in the universe has an ideal location to gain harmony therefore the family shrines, kitchen, rice barn and other rooms are designed and placed according to these principles.

Drive further north to the iconic rice terraces of Tegallalang, where lush green paddies create a stunning patchwork on the side of the hills and take a short walk through the intricately designed terraces. Next visit Ubud Palace, the home of the local royal family standing in the heart of the town. Take a walk through the nearby Ubud Market among the colourful stalls of wood carvings, textiles and souvenirs.

After lunch, continue to Puri Lukisan Museum, the oldest art museum in Bali. Here you can admire an array of contemporary paintings and wood carvings from prominent Balinese artists.

Finally visit Ubud Monkey Forest, a sanctuary for the malevolent but photogenic long tail macaques. Walk through the forest and temple where mischievous monkeys roam freely. On the far side of the forest, the car will be waiting to drive you back to the hotel.

Oct. 22nd - RAILWAY & FLOATING MARKET TOUR & TEMPLE TOUR

Depart early morning for the two-hour drive to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. En route first visit at Maeklong Railway Market, the name says it all: it is a market which has a train running right through the middle of it. The market offers everything you expect a Thai market to offer but the Maeklong Railway Market differentiates itself from the other markets by having a railway located in the middle. If the products for sale are not placed on the railway itself, they are placed really closed to it. Every time the train is about to drive through, the vendors recognize the warning bell, they immediately jump out of their chairs to pull back their awnings and when needed their products as well so the train will not hit the vendors' belongings. Tourists and the vendors gather very close, but far enough, along the railway to let the train pass by safely. For many tourists this is the moment to take a video or a picture of this impressive moment. Right after the train has passed the stands, the vendors immediately place their belongings back at the railway and it looks like nothing has happened.

We continue drive to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market where you board a private longtail boat to travel along the Damneon Saduak Klong (canal) to visit the famed Floating Market at Damneon Saduak. The traditional floating market is set in a small klong where buyers and sellers come in dugout canoes laden high with tropical fruit and vegetables, tourist fair and ready-to-drink coconuts. Leaving the market you will then be return to Bangkok.

Lunch at local restaurant (Thai set - Food only).

The Grand Palace is one of the most beautiful examples of an ancient Siamese court, which incorporates several palaces and halls used for different occasions. Bangkok's former royal palace is an intriguing blend of Italian Renaissance architecture and classical Thai roofing. It was begun in 1782 by King Rama I and improved upon by subsequent rulers. See the Throne Hall, the Coronation Hall, the Reception Palace and the Funeral Palace. Go on to see The Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaeo). Bangkok's most important and sacred wat. Built at the end of the 18th century by King Rama I, this splendid example of Thai aesthetics and religious architecture houses the Emerald Buddha, Thailand's most venerated image. So small and distant that it can hardly be seen, the jade image symbolizes the independence, strength and good fortune of the country. The Interior walls are painted with superb frescoes, while murals between the window frames depict Jataka scenes from the life of Buddha.

Continuing on, look around Wat Pho, built by King Rama I nearly 200 years ago and housing the gigantic Reclining Buddha or Phra Buddhasaiyas. This distinctive image is 150 ft long and almost 50ft high and entirely covered in gold leaf. The soles of the feet are intricately inlaid with 108 auspicious signs of the Buddha. Wat Pho is also regarded as the first center of public education and the birthplace of traditional Thai massage, and as such is sometimes referred to as "Thailand's First University".

After tour and transfer back to hotel by coach.

Please Note: When visiting The Grand Palace, you are required to wear appropriate attire, therefore: shorts, short skirts and sleeveless attire are NOT permitted to be worn within the grounds.
