About this trip

We all need time to be still, rest, and restore. This God's Getaway Christian Meditation Retreat will focus on just that. In the beautiful heart of nature and a charming historic castle estate, we will pause, exhale, and reset our hearts back to God and ourselves.

Be Still Retreat Description

"Come unto me all who are heavy laden and I will give you rest."- Matthew 11:28

The last several years have been a struggle for so many of us. Many have lost friends and family, even jobs, while others have become disillusioned by worldly events. These have often led to sadness, fear, hopelessness, and even despair. Yet even in the midst of adversity and turmoil, God still provides us an opportunity to embrace peace, joy, and prosperity.

But let's be real, even prior to the past few years, far too many of us have lived with stress, busyness, distractions, and inner pain for so long that it just feels normal. It's not!  it's just familiar! Not until we deal directly with and heal the disturbances living "within us,"  can we consistently experience God's genuine rest.  "So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God." Hebrews 4:9 (New Living Translation)

Every bad or negative experience in our lives provides us with a pathway to healing when we perceive it as such. One of my favorite quotes, "Never let a good emotional crisis go to waste," reminds me that emotional upheaval is an invitation to heal and grow. During mindful rest and retreat, we pause, unpack, reflect, reset, and reposition our lives. And with the right tools and guidance, we can become our very own healers and no longer slaves to our history, fears, patterns, old beliefs, and wounds.

All too often, even when we feel that yearning to "come unto me and rest," our cultural conditioning promotes productivity, or we aren't really clear how even to go about this spiritual rest. So many retreats, even Christian ones, bombard us with social events, meetings, and teaching, but fail to allow, even promote that extended time and space to mindfully enter into God's presence.  Without this "scheduled rest," we can become disconnected from our own hearts and bodies causing us to lose that vital connection and life force with who we are and who God created us to be.

During this retreat, you'll participate in daily meditation and instruction,  Living Untethered Workshops based upon the life-changing work of author Michael Singer, gentle and restorative Christ-Centered yoga, daily releasing and healing workshops, and spiritual tools and activities that can move you towards that place of peace beyond understanding and unspeakable joy.

Come for a week and break free from the turmoil (both inner and outer) that is distracting you from your heart, dreams, self-love and care, inner wisdom, healing, joy, and more abundant life.

We all need extended times to get away, clear our minds, heal our hurts, transform our hearts, and dwell in God’s presence. It was Jesus' daily custom and our example.

Draw unto God during this time of mindful rest and release with like-minded believers!

When you leave this retreat you'll:

  • Gain knowledge and tools to identify your fears and limiting beliefs and how to overcome them.  You'll gain new insights, tools, and understanding that can change your life forever.
  • Understand the "true" source of your happiness and how "you" create your own reality. It's not your spouse, circumstances, or anything else that defines or creates your happiness. Others only reflect what's already happening inside of us. You'll learn how to live in peace and joy without changing your circumstances.
  • Flow & surrender to life instead of trying to recreate it in your own image. Let go of control and turn the reigns over to God and Spirit. Learn how to live in divine peace and contentment each and every day.
  • Open doors to greater blessings and abundance as you focus more on living in and embracing each moment, letting go of the past as well as anticipating the future.
  • Effortlessly create a life you'll love as you relinquish control and detox from the fears, hurts, and limiting beliefs keeping you stuck in your old mind patterns and behaviors.
  • Set an intention for your life. Create a vision for your life instead of allowing life to happen to you.
  • Remove resistance to your dreams and desires. Identify what is holding you back and rewrite your stories for success.
  • Learn how your thoughts and emotions dictate your life and ways to process them for inner healing.
  • Be ready to establish your own meditation practice to restore your peace of mind and invite inner calm.

Some Frequently Asked Questions

Is Meditation even Biblical?

Yes. There are dozens of scriptures in the Bible that encourage Christians to meditate. Joshua 1:8 tells us to meditate on God day and night so that we have great success in life. It's hard to think about God or even walk in God's Spirit & Love when our minds are filled with negative thoughts, fears, limiting beliefs, uncontrolled emotions, and running mental patterns of our past. Even Jesus said a double-minded man is unstable in his ways. Until we take authority over our minds and bring them in subjection to God's love, we continue to live the struggle life with the mind warring against the Spirit. (Romans 7:23) Meditation, in most methods and forms, allows us to first become aware of our inner thoughts and dialogue which then gives us the space and awareness to actually renew our minds. There are tremendous benefits to learning how to meditate and during this retreat, you'll learn the power of meditation in your own life and so much more.

But I've never meditated before, or  I can't meditate, should I still come?

The short answer is yes. During the retreat, you will learn a variety of Christ-centered meditation methods and practice them. Learning to meditate is not a sprint but a marathon that will grow with you. One of the best things about coming to a meditation retreat is the knowledge and support you'll receive. I'm here to help you every step of the way. The only way to become a better meditator is to meditate.

Isn't Yoga Anti-Christian?

What I love about the Bible is the liberty that we have in Christ. (Galatians 5:1) Paul says, "Don't let your good be evil spoken of." (Romans 14:12)  I, as well as many other Christians, have gained a deeper understanding of God through the mindful practice of yoga and its transformative effects. In some ways, yoga helps us to move God from our heads into our hearts/spirits as well as our bodies. That is why it is often called a mind, body, and spirit experience. Through the breathwork in yoga, we calm and regulate our nervous systems and learn to manage our emotions. Through movement in yoga, we release trauma from our bodies and the simple insight that "this too shall pass.". Through stillness in yoga, we can observe and learn to calm the mind. All yoga classes are not the same. Jesus said, whatever you do, do it to the glory of God. (Colossians 3:17) We can use this beautiful practice with God at the center, as a wonderful healing tool. At the end of my classes, most students feel so calm, happy, and relaxed and say, "That was just stretching." I'm also excited to announce that I will be doing more training in trauma-sensitive yoga to better help students relieve suffering from within. BTW- it's optional. But I say, let go of the fear-based teachings and live in freedom and abundance!

Meditation? Yoga? Are you a New Age Christian?

No. I consider myself a Spiritual Christian. That means that over the years I have sought to not just have a head knowledge of God but an experiential experience as well. I don't want to just know about God/Christ, I want the Spirit of God living in me and through me. Jesus said that "I and the Father are one." And in Christ, we are to live, and move and have our being. When we get out of the way, we allow God to take up more space/residence within us. These are often the very issues we need to heal: memories of the past, negative thoughts, faulty mindsets, limiting beliefs, and automatic mind patterns. All of these obstruct us from knowing God in spirit as well as truth. The scriptures say that the "letter" kills but the "spirit gives life. Too many Christians live in the letter (the word) of God but shun the Spirit as anti-Christ, New Age, or Woowoo. But as the Bible tells us "God IS A SPIRIT." We can't just hold onto one aspect of God and neglect the other. God wants us to transcend the soulish entanglements of this world and rise upward and escape from our fear-based and limited captivity. As a Spiritual Christian, I see the spiritual relevance and meaning in the Bible far more than I see rules, tradition, and regulations. We are not to be cookie-cutters Christians for God. We are not to interpret the Bible ALL in the same way. We don't have to put God in a box. And that's okay. The Bible tells us to work out "our own" soul salvation (Philippians 2:12), not anyone else's. It is to God that we are to be true. My job/ministry is to point you to the indwelling Spirit of Christ so that as Jesus said, "When the Holy Spirit comes you won't need a teacher because the Holy Spirit will teach you all things." The spirit of God lives WITHIN YOU! (Luke 17:21) That is the only place you need to look.

Please read the section on Things to Know and Prepare for answers to more retreat questions or send me a message.

Additional Activities Descriptions

Gentle Christ-Centered Yoga: Most mornings we will begin our day with a gentle Christ-centered yoga practice to strengthen our bodies and quiet our minds. Yoga is known for its mental, emotional, and physical benefits. Yoga classes are dedicated to God and are infused with scripture and prayer throughout.  (FYI- I will be completing a Trauma-Sensitive Yoga training this year and will incorporate movements and poses that promote emotional regulation and rebalancing of our nervous systems.)

Evening Yoga Nidra: While laying in your most relaxing and comfortable state, enjoy Christ-Centered meditation, imagery, and soaking prayers. These unique and powerful Nidra's can be instrumental in addressing trauma and promoting the healing process within.

Hiking & Bike Riding: During your afternoon free time, bikes are available to explore the countryside or you can venture out for a hike or stroll.

Bathing Lake: We are within walking distance of a beautiful bathing lake where you can take a drip or wade in the pool right on the property.

Reflective & Personal Time: Each day during the retreat, you will have time to dive deeper by connecting with yourself and God as well as deepening your meditation practice.

Spirit Embodiment Dancing: "We hold our issues in our tissues."  Inner healing isn't about just renewing the mind but also freeing the body and bringing the two into purposeful and healthy alignment with the heart and Spirit of God. Romans 8:6 declares, "the mind (and body) governed by the Spirit is life and peace." To some of our favorite worship songs as well as instrumental and rhythmic music of various cultures, with worship flags, scarves, or just your own bodies, we will use the music, movement, and mindful prompts as a tool for releasing, confronting, and freeing our bodies of pain and trauma. If you have a favorite song that soothes, awakens, or energizes your spirit, please let me know.

Walking Meditation: Practice opening your heart through walking meditation with your eyes open. During walking meditation, you walk in God's love, power, vision, abundance, healing, and intention. Learn to walk in the energy of who God created you to be. Another form of walking meditation is to repeat a special word or phrase to draw your attention back to God each time your mind wanders off. (Bring headphones for your phone or can use a script.)

Retreat Location

Located in the heart of the magnificent region of Gascony, surrounded by fields and hills, The Château is an historical French estate whose foundations date back to the Middle Age. With its towers, windmills, ancient wine cellar, the Château is an authentic leftover of French history and a reflection of the unique rural tradition of the region.

For the most part, the current batiment of the castle dates back to the 18th century built by the Comtesse de Beaumont, a former courtesan at the King of France court. The Comtess, who owned the Château until the early 19th century, built a splendid estate including a huge park decorated with statues as well as a small chapel.

With 12 bedrooms decorated in a warm, rural, and antique-style, two living rooms equipped with TV and WIFI, dining rooms, a French pool room with board games, a historical library, a large studio room of 160 sqm, a 6-acre park featuring ancient oaks and a splendid bathing lake located a few minutes away, the Château is the ideal setting to welcome large groups and host retreats in a tranquil and serene environment.

In addition to the practice of yoga and training activities, guests can enjoy their free time at the Château by taking walks through the exquisite countryside, going for refreshing baths in the nearby swimming lake, visiting local markets and historical villages nearby, participating in local festivals and tasting local wines as well as delicious regional products.

Please allow at least a week to receive it. You if don’t have an account at these banks, you can ask a friend to order for you. Many places do take credit cards but it’s a good idea to bring some cash. Also, let your bank know you will be traveling so they don’t put a hold on your account.

Cell Phones: It is recommended that you contact your cell phone provider prior to the trip. Some providers will provide international calling at increased cost or you may be able to purchase a European sim card that will allow for international calling and possibly text messages. You can purchase it on Amazon. In addition, inside the airport, there will probably be stores like

Vodaphone, Tims, or Wings where you can purchase a sim card as well. If you bring your cellphone, please bring headphones for walking meditation.

Later, you will have the opportunity to list important details about your trip (roommates, flight information, food choices, etc.)

Couples: We only have a few rooms with single beds. If these rooms are taken, you will be placed in a room with 2 beds, just you and your spouse. Please select double occupancy per person when registering.

If so, please book your return flight to accommodate any post-retreat travel. In What’s App and during the retreat you may connect with others to travel with. There are also many tours that you can purchase. For post-retreat travel, you will also need to book additional accommodations. The retreat includes a one-night post-retreat hotel stay to give you a little leverage when booking your return flight. Busses will return to the hotel around 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Transportation Itinerary & Options

Transportation Options for Retreat Dates July 7-15, 2023.

Flight and Transportation Details:(Please watch the video and read it thoroughly before booking flights. This is an older video so dates are not accurate.) VIDEO REGARDING FLIGHTS (WATCH NOW).  Update: Flights are definitely higher due to higher gas prices but should come down as we get closer to the beginning of the year.

  • (Required For All) You can fly directly into Toulouse Airport or fly into Paris CDG Airport and take a 1.5-hour flight to Toulouse. There are many flights throughout the day. Check prices for both options. I will fly into Paris and take a flight to Toulouse as it is less expensive. Flights from Paris (CDG) to Toulouse (TLS) are around $80-125 round-trip. You will have to coordinate these flights.
  • All participants are required to arrive in Toulouse. France on or by Friday, July 7. A hotel stay is provided in the cost of the retreat. We will all be transported to the retreat center on Saturday, July 8, 2022 at 2:00p.m. Because of flight delays, possible missed flights, and other obstacles, we are requiring you to arrive the day before the retreat.

Arriving in France (Please review the various options)

Option # 1- (Arrive in Paris) (CDG) on Friday, July 7, 2023. Catch a connecting flight from Paris to Toulouse (TLS) on Friday, July 7, 2023.  (They leave throughout the day). Spend the night in an assigned hotel or hostel (included in the price of the retreat). Catch the group bus to retreat at 2:00 p.m. on July 8, 2023.

Option # 2- (Fly into Toulouse) (TLS) on July 7, 2023. Spend the night in the assigned hotel or hostel (included in the cost of the retreat). Take the shuttle bus from the hotel to retreat center at 2:00 p.m. on July 8, 2023. (Please do not fly into France on July 8, 2023; you may have flight delays and this gives you a buffer.)

Leaving France:

Option # 1 (Fly Home)-  From retreat center, bus leaves at 10 a.m. on July 15, 2023 arriving around noon to Toulouse airport. Fly to Paris (CDG) and Paris to home.

Option # 2-(Extend Your Stay) - From the retreat center, the bus leaves at 10 a.m. on July 15, 2023, arriving around noon at the airport. Fly to Paris.  Extend your stay for exploration and tours in Paris or the surrounding area. Book a room at recommended Paris Hostel or hotel of your choice. I will be recommending a hostel in Paris for a group stay as well as a variety of tours we can do together if desired.  Euro train can take you almost anywhere in Europe.

Additional Important Travel Information:

  • Flights vary greatly by airport and location so check major airports near you and get creative for the best flights and prices. Here are a few flights prices I found to Paris from SFO $391, LAX $505, Miami $439. (This was in 2019; higher now).
  • If you are leaving France for home on the same day, please give yourself enough time to get checked-in at airport so you don’t miss your flight and connecting flight (if coming via Paris).
  • Please arrive on July 7, 2023, to avoid missing the retreat bus due to flight delays. If you miss transportation times, you will need to provide your own transportation. The retreat center is 1.5 hours from the airport. You can get a taxi ($225 euros) or rent a car (much cheaper).
  • Unless you have travel miles or some other inside knowledge (let us know), I highly recommend getting a flight through They have the best rates I have seen thus far. Sign up for their flight alerts.
  • The best time to purchase the flight for the retreat is 4 to 6 months in advance. According to online travel sites, the best month to purchase international flights is before the end of January. After that, flights will begin to inch up each month.
  • We will have several conference calls to discuss travel plans if you need more information or feel free to call or email me.
  • I’m sure that some of you will be staying in France or visiting the surrounding areas after the retreat ends; therefore, you will want to book your retreat flights to depart at a later date. I plan on spending some time in Paris afterward. You can also check out available tours. There will be many people to hook up with after the retreat. You can add your interest to our FB and What’s App groups.  The best thing is to decide how long you want to stay and a rough idea of where you plan to go. You will have time to plan specifics.

Maybe Not a Good Fit If...

  • The goal of these retreats is to promote transparency, openness, support, healing, and love. If you have a problem with gossip, backbiting, judging, or creating dissension, this may not be the retreat for you. I understand that many people have problems with negative thoughts and can greatly benefit from the instruction and workshops, so don’t let that stop you. However, talking negatively about others or backbiting will not be tolerated and you will be banned from attending future retreats. God is love and we have control over our tongues! We all have our own personal relationships with God and they may be different for each one of us, not wrong, just different, and that's okay. Extreme legalistic and dogmatic views may not be the right fit for this retreat.
  • Need internet access and technology to stay sane. We want you to leave the world of technology behind for a few days so you can focus on others, yourself, and your relationship with God.
  • Looking for “mostly” a FUN-FILLED vacation! Although we are planning some optional and group activities during our free time (hiking, biking, excursions) our main priority will be to cultivate a lifelong Christian meditation practice and inner healing.
  • Finding walking difficult.  There may be lots of walking.
  • Looking for the luxury amenities of a 4-star hotel.
  • Stepping out of your comfort zone just isn’t your thing.
  • Seeking to connect with God in a quiet setting with few distractions or activities.  I am planning on hosting some retreats for those who really want to JUST deepen their practice and spend time with God that incorporates activities that support this.
