We set sail from the local tourist dock crossing the wide Ushuaia Bay until reaching the Beagle Channel through Paso Chico.
We will sail around Birds Island where we can appreciate the birds of Tierra del Fuego. There we will observe: Skuas, Black-browed Albatrosses, Steam Ducks, Cauquenes, Cook Seagulls and Gray Seagulls. Then, we will approach Sea Lions Islands where we can observe sea lions of one and two hairs. Both belong to the Bridges Islands.
Arriving at the Lighthouse Les Eclaireurs (The Illuminators), we can see the colonies of Imperial Cormorants and Rocky Cormorants while we listen to the history of the collapse of the SS Monte Cervantes that he starred in 1930.
Continuing, we will navigate towards the east, enjoying the wonderful landscapes of the channel and the mountains that surround it. On the Argentina coast Puerto Almanza and on the Chilean coast, we will see Puerto Williams Naval Base. After a few minutes, we will arrive at the Penguins Rookery where we´ll see a colony of Magellanic Penguins and some Papua penguins.
Finally, we return to Ushuaia sailing near the North coast of the Canal, appreciating the characteristic flora and spotting some historical sites such as the Estancia Túnel and Estancia Remolino. At the end of the journey you will be surprised by the view of the mountain range that surrounds the city of Ushuaia and its sumptuous nature that surrounds it.
Note: at the beginning and at the end of the season you will see less penguins.
Off Road Adventure: 4x4 & Canoe Trip
Our guides pick you from the hotel in one of our Land Rover Defender or Chevrolet TrailBlazer 4x4. We head to the north of the island along National Route 3 where we will observe the recognized winter centers of Ushuaia (and one of the most popular: Cerro Castor).
We’ll cross the Cordillera de los Andes until we arrive at a beautiful panoramic point of view to observe both Lakes. This point is known as the Garibaldi Pass. Here we ‘ll stop to take a few pictures. After that we started the real 4x4 adventure. We’ll cross paths of mud and water until we reach the imposing shore of *Fagnano Lake*. At this point, we get off the vehicles for a moment to contemplate this extraordinary place and its particular energy as well as to have a short morning snack.
We continue our day until we park in the middle of the forest, to take a short walk of approximately 10 to 15 minutes to our Shelter near of *Escondido Lake*, where we enjoy a delicious bite of cold cuts and choripan as an appetizer, while our guides cook a delicious roast narrow steak, which we accompany with salads and Malbec wine. Then, we explore the lake (Escondido) in *canoes* and top-of-the-line equipment, combining good exercise, relaxation and contemplation of nature. At the end of this activity, we return to Ushuaia in our vehicules.
