--> About Maras
Located 50 km from Cusco, nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley, the Salt Mines of Maras stand as one of the largest salt extraction centers of prehispanic origin. Picture over 4,500 ancient salt pools arranged in stepped terraces on the slopes of the Qaqawiñay hill. These colorful pools predate the Inca civilization, bearing witness to centuries of salt exploitation. As you explore this historical site, you'll get to envision the ancient traditions employed by generations.
--> About Moray
Just 7 km from the Maras community lies the archaeological complex of Moray, where you'll encounter fascinating platforms designed to experiment with weather changes. Its uniqueness lies in its purpose: testing crops across diverse micro-climates. These structures created micro-climates ideal for testing and cultivating crops crucial to the Inca's daily sustenance.
The entrance fee for the Moray archaeological site is not included in this tour package, because it is included in the CUSCO TOURISTIC TICKET, which allows entrance to Moray and 15 other Cusco attractions. If you have purchased a tourist ticket beforehand, it can be used to access the Moray site without any additional costs.
You can acquire it upon your arrival to Cusco at the entrance of some touristic sites, such as this one. The cost for the full ticket is 130 soles (about $37.00 USD) and it is valid up to 10 days, and the half ticket is 70 soles (about $19.00 USD), that is valid for a partial entry to some sites.
