After breakfast, meet at hotel with your local guide and driver. 

Head to the Equator or Latitude 0, located 22 km north of Quito.

Be ready to have fun! :)

At the beginning you will immerse into the history of the ancient pre-Inca civilizations who inhabited this region long before the Europeans came here.  

You will find out why the Equator was considered a sacred place. And you will have a chance to make your own experiments and observe unique physical phenomena that can only be seen at the Latitude 0.  Learn the scientific explanation for these phenomena.

Then we will proceed to explore the colonial streets and highlights of Oldtown Quito, which is recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage. 

Drive up to the "Panecillo de St. Virgen", a remarkable  hill  in the middle of OldTown, for lunch at a good restaurant with a magnificent panoramic city view.

In the late afternoon, return to hotel. Free time.

Quito altitude - 2850m

Breakfast & checkout.

Around 9AM leave Quito and drive (~2hrs) the Pan-American Highway on the portion of Andean Volcanic range called  "Avenue of the Volcanoes". 

The "Avenue of Voclanoes"  stretches north to south in the central sierra region of Ecuador and has over 50 volcanoes on its territory. 

Today you will see a few of them on the way to Cotopaxi National Park, including the  iconic Cotopaxi , the active volcano that erupts every 75 years and last time erupted in 2015. 

After arrival take an optional hike up to the base of volcano at 4600m, take a hike up to alpine refuge at the altitude of 4800m, ~2 hrs out and back.

Drive to colonial-style hacienda house located near the park. 

After lunch, relax, or opt for a horseback riding tours (at additional cost). 

Dinner and overnight at hacienda house (Hacienda Santa Ana or similar)

Overnight at the altitude of 3000m

Check out after breakfast.

Drive to Quilotoa lagoon (~2.5 hours), a beautiful crater lake, located at the altitude of 4000m.  Quilotoa was always considered as a Place of Power for Quechua local people.  Here you can simply contemplate the beauty of the lake from the viewpoints, or go down to the water. The lake is not swimmable or drinkable. 

The way up to the parking lot will require a good physical condition.

At the small handcraft market of Tigua community you can buy textiles, simple handcrafts, sold by Quechua locals dressed in traditional ponchos  and sombreros as a part of their everyday outfit.

We continue our journey descending into the tropics. If the weather is clear, you can see the highest peak of Ecuador - Chimborazo Volcano on the way.

The resort town of Baños is located at the foot of another active volcano -  Tunguragua.

Check in at hotel (Sangay Hotel or similar), free time in the evening.

Overnight at the altitude of 2500m

After breakfast, check out. and rush for adventures to the Route of Waterfalls which is Baños is famous for. 

The first stop is the "Bride's Veil" waterfall.  To get closer to it, you have to cross the gorge  in a hanging basket to the other side.  Those who are brave, its your day! Try and enjoy lots of zip-lining opportunities (for a small fee, paid directly).

The next stop is the Devil's Falls, which is not seen from the road. Take a nice easy trail though the rainforest. After less than a mile a jaw-dropping opens up to you from viewpoints: rumbling waters, rapidly rushing down and breaking loudly into an abyss.  The most daring ones can get closer to the waterfall, crawling through a narrow passage in the rock, and find themselves right behind the thickness of the stream!A refreshing shower is guaranteed, be ready to get wet and that's amazing!

After a quick lunch on the way, we leave back towards Quito (~3.5 hours drive)

Drive  directly to the airport  area.

Altitude 2500m 

Today your journey starts with a 40-minute flight from Quito to Coca where the eco-lodge staff will pick you up and transfer to the banks of Napo River. 

Embarking for a 2,5h motorized-boat trip on the largest Ecuadorian affluent of the Amazon, the Napo River. 

During the journey you get a taste of the Amazon; ancestral communities, birds and nature. The canoe ride is followed by a 15 minute walk through a wooden platform and 20-minute paddle canoe across the beautiful lake. 

The staff of the eco-lodge will welcome you on arrival and check you in.

Late afternoon, you will take a short walk on the nearby trails or a canoe ride with many chances to observe primates, Amazonian birds, black caimans and a close encounter with the amazing flora represented by cedar trees, orchids, and bromeliads. 

Return to the lodge, where our chef will be happy to offer a wide variety of national and international cuisine that caters also for vegetarians and vegans.

Then you will have a briefing with your Guide about the Amazon Rainforest  and the plan of activities for the following day while you enjoy drinks and cocktails made for our barman.

Overnight in rustic-style cabins.

Altitdue for this and following days - 0-900m

After breakfast served at the lodge, experience the life on the tree tops from the 36 meter (118 ft) observation tower.  To get there your leaders will paddle on the Challuacocha Lake for 30 minutes followed by a short 10-minute walk. 

Over 565 species of birds have been registered so far, including colorful birds such as macaws, toucans, honeycreepers, tanagers, flycatchers, hummingbirds and with a bit of luck a close view of howler, squirrel monkeys or sloths resting on the canopy. 

The tower gives you a unique perspective, opening up a whole new world of Amazon biodiversity that is often difficult and almost impossible to see from the understory. 

After lunch continue exploring the nearby trails searching for more Amazonian creatures walking through Chorongo trail that have up to 5 hours of duration in the deep tropical rainforest. 

In the afternoon you will go back to the lodge for dinner

Overnight in rustic-style cabins , Sani Lodge

After breakfast you will go to Napo River to take the canoe to Sani Isla Community Center. Here you can learn how the community lives in harmony with the Amazon Rainforest. You will learn about their customs, drinks, food, and Kichwa culture, learn how local life is environmentally sustainable. 

Lunch will be served in the community and you will taste the traditional food of the area, then get ready to play with the blowgun, an ancient Kichwa tradition of hunting, and learn how to make artisan chocolate with the women of the community.

In the afternoon you’ll Kayak in Napo river, from the Community until the main port of Sani Lodge.

After dinner take a night walk  to see jungle insects, spiders, snakes and frogs!

Back in the lodge, overnight in rustic-style cabins.

Check out after breakfast. Head back to the Napo River to board the boat and visit the parrots wall at Yasuní National Park for a wonderful view of hundreds of parrots searching for a gap to land and eat the earth in a process for their digestion. Here you will see Mealy Amazon, Yellow-crowned, Orange-winged and Blue-headed parrots.

Then return to Coca on time to get your flight back to Quito.

Arrive in Quito in the afternoon.  Take a PCR lab test at the airport. 

Stay at hotel near  the airport Terminal (Quito Whyndham Airport), the best location for your upcoming flight to Galapagos on the next morning.
