About this trip

Let us take you away as we escape into the Magic of Bolivia and Peru in this fresh, updated itinerary. This fully hosted 13-day tour is for the traveler seeking not only an unforgettable cultural and natural experience, but also a journey into the Land of the Incas, Quechuas and Aymaras, all the while protected by Pachamama, the earth/time mother. We will explore Bolivia first, beginning in the highest administrative capital in the world of La Paz, at more than 3,500 meters (11,500 feet) above sea level, then continue to the beautiful cities of Sucre and Potosi (both UNESCO World Heritage Sites), and on to Uyuni, the largest salt flats on the planet. Then we make our way across Lake Titicaca and into Peru, visiting the unique Uros and Taquile floating settlements, up into Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire, and ending with the majestic Citadel of Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley.

The hike up Machu Picchu mountain was the highlight of our visit to Perú. While the many steps on the trail were challenging, our efforts were rewarded with spectacular views over the ruined city and surrounding peaks. We would highly recommend this walk, provided you enjoy hiking and have spent some time becoming conditioned to the high altitude. Big thanks to Felipe from Wangulen Odyssey tours for organising this excellent excursion for us.
