After your arrival in Rome, transfer to hotel on your own. Get settled in hotel and later enjoy a welcome dinner with group at a nearby restaurant. Overnight: Rome (D)
Following breakfast, meet with our guide for a tour of the Vatican, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Sistine Chapel. Cap the day with a dinner at a quaint neighborhood restaurant. Overnight Rome. (B)
Continue our guided tour of Rome and its famed sights: the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Spend the remainder of the day exploring Rome on your own and visiting sites such as the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, etc. Overnight Rome (B)
Following breakfast, transfer to the Cinque Terre. On the way, we’ll stop at the beautiful town of Lucca for lunch and time on your own. Later, get settled in our hotel and spend the remainder of the day/night exploring the charming village of Levanto. Overnight Cinque Terre (B)
Following breakfast, get acquainted with the eclectic Cinque Terre villages and walking paths that connect them with a local guide. Later, enjoy the views of the coastline during a sunset boat tour. Cruise along the coastline with an aperitivo and take a swim in the turquoise waters. The boat tour is a great opportunity to get some fabulous photos of the Cinque Terre villages. The remainder of the day is yours to hike, shop, sample the area’s restaurants or relax at one of the local beaches. Overnight Cinque Terre (B)
The day is yours to explore on your own the Ligurian Coast and its villages and sample the local cuisine and wine. Consider taking a bike ride to a neighboring seaside village. Alternatively, take a train or boat to glamorous Portofino or the less-touristy (but equally as lovely) port town, Portovenere. Overnight Cinque Terre (B)
Today, behold the many sights of Florence, birthplace of the Italian Renaissance, with a guided tour of the city and its sights, including Michelangelo’s David. Spend the rest of the day exploring Florence on your own. Later, check in to our beautiful Tuscan retreat and enjoy a dinner specially prepared for our group accompanied by local wine. Overnight: Tuscany (B,D)
Spend the morning relaxing at the hotel. Later, travel to the beautiful Tuscan wine estate in the heart of Chianti, for a wine tasting and lunch. Our day includes a tour of the ancient castle, once an Etruscan and later a Roman settlement, a tasting of the organic wines of the estate, and a beautiful Tuscan lunch of local products. Return to hotel to for the afternoon and evening. Overnight: Tuscany (B.L)
Today, spend the day relaxing at our country hotel. Take a walk or bike ride in the Tuscany countryside, relax at the hotel spa or take a taxi to the nearby town of Siena, considered one of Italy's most beautiful medieval cities. Visit the majestic and medieval cathedral, Duomo di Siena, relax at a cafe in Piazza del Campo, where the historic Palio horse race takes place, walk the neighborhoods (contrade) or shop at some of the city's boutique shops. Today is your day to explore on your own or practice the art of "dolce far niente," (the sweetness of doing nothing.) Overnight: Tuscany (B)
Today, travel to medieval Umbria. On the way, we’ll visit Le Pietre Vive restaurant to learn the secrets of Tuscan cooking. Enjoy the fruits of your labor with lunch and with local wine. Following lunch, travel to Umbria. Get settled in your quaint hotel in Assisi and explore this medieval village on your own. Overnight: Assisi (B,L)
Today we’ll join local truffle hunters and their dogs in the Umbrian woodlands to see how they discover and gather truffles. Bonus: We’ll sample the truffle along with local Umbrian wines during a lunch prepared especially the group. Overnight: Assisi (B,L)
Today is yours to explore on your own. Relax at the hotel, explore Assisi on your own or travel to a neighboring village. Tonight, gather and celebrate your Italian adventure together. (B,D)
Following breakfast, say a reluctant “Ciao” to Italy and depart for your return flight. There will be one provided transfer to Rome Fiumicino Airport.
