About this trip

Join Koren and her students for eight days of rejuvenating and transformational yoga, meditation, pranayama, sutra studies as well as many other outdoor and cultural activities on the Big Island of Hawaii.

We will stay at Hawaii Island Retreat’s eco-boutique hotel & wellness spa, a place of intentional peacefulness set among towering evergreens and ocean breezes along the Northern Koha’la coast. Enjoy elegant accommodations, and dine on delicious locally grown organic vegetarian food.

Check-in time is 3:00 p.m on Friday, May 19th. Check- out time is 11:00 a.m on Friday, May 26th. Hawaii Island Retreat is usually booked before and after our stay so please call ahead if you would like to stay any additional dates.

What if I’m traveling alone?
If you prefer to share your room, I will do my best to match you with another traveler of the same gender. Before the retreat begins I will provide arrival times & rideshare information from the airport.

Would you like a massage?
As a group participant you are entitled to 15% off of all spa services. You can schedule before to assure you get a time you want or wait until you arrive.

Do I need to bring yoga props or books?
Everyone will be provided with a bolster, mat, strap, block and chair. If you are interested in participating in the philosophy classes you may want to bring a copy of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Shared Hawaiian Yurt
Yurts offer a unique alternative to the elegant boutique hotel for folks seeking more simplicity and economy. Nestled within a needled ironwood grove, the yurt village is adjacent to the Hawaiian eco-spa complex and features 7 spacious yurt bungalows, perfect for couples or shared rooming. Yurts have two single beds or one king, and a private toilet and sink. Showers are nearby. Single Yurt add $600.

Shared Suite
Each suite has a spacious bathroom with a large soaking tub and separate shower. These are decorated with turn-of-the-century Hawaii furniture. All suites have private balconies and chairs, overlooking the fragrant garden and ocean. Shared suites have two beds unless otherwise specified. Single Suite add $900.

Koren Paalman
Koren Paalman, MS is Iyengar certified at the Intermediate Junior III level. She has been teaching yoga since 1995 to both adults and youth in a variety of settings nationally and internationally. Currently, Koren teaches Iyengar yoga classes at 6 different locations within the Los Angeles region. She was honored to work therapeutically with BKS Iyengar and his daughter Geeta in Pune, India biannually for 10 years. Koren has experienced the practice of yoga as a unique opportunity to move your body consciously and by doing so progressively create an enhanced state of awareness. A dedicated yoga, pranayama and meditation practice also quiets your mind and allows you to embark on a journey of self-discovery toward your own true essence, and that which lies beyond.
