Travelling in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is a paradise for adventure travels especially by bike!

Crystal-clear mountain lakes, pristine trails and a unique culture are waiting for you!

Before leaving the terrain demands some preperation and topics to be aware of:

Altitude:

Eighty percent of the territory of Kyrgyzstan lies above 3000 meters.  The tour is designed to assure constant acclimatization to be well prepared for stages with high altitude.

Endurance:

General endurance to master daily stages up to 92km in high alpine terrain is mandatory. Keep in mind, that distances are more demanding than in altitude we are used to.

Weather:

Kyrgyzstan has a contintental climate. During summer time temperatures can rise up to 35 degrees in the capital of Bishkek on 800m. On higher altitude e.g at Lake Song Kul on 3000m  there are 15 to 20 degrees with cold nights.

Especially in the mountains the weather can change quickly. You can expierence all four seasons in one day. So be prepared concering your equipment. You'll find advices above.

Travel conditions:

Kyrgyzstan is a developing country and the infrastructure in general is rudimentary. Due to bad weather, it might be the case to take other routes like indicated or certain passes have to be by-passed.

In case of an medical emergency a repatriation to your home country is highly recommended. Therefore a travel insurance including repatriation is mandatory.

Visa requirements:

For a stay up to 60 days there is no visa required for German, Austrian and Swiss citizens. The same counts for most European and other nationalities. Ask your local authority or contact us.

Medical requirements:

There are no official requirements by the Kyrgyz government to enter the country. Nevertheless it is recommended to check with your personal doctor for vaccinations like

-Polio

-Tetanus

-Diphteria

-Hepatitis A and B

-Rabias.

The webpage of the German Robert Koch Institute provides extensive information on that issue.
