Birdwatchers and wildlife photographers of all skill levels are encouraged to join us as we spot the interesting birds at the Pocosin Lakes NWR.
Over the course of this 3 hour walking & driving trip, we will explore open fields of the Pungo Unit area at the Pocosin Lakes NWR.
We'll be on the lookout for Tundra Swans and various species of other migrating waterfowl like Teal, Widgeon, Ruddy Ducks, Ring neck Ducks, Northern Shovelers, and Pintails. We may even catch a glimpse of a couple Sandhill Cranes!
In addition, this should be a great opportunity to find Northern Harriers and Bald Eagles hunting for a meal over the fields.
We will meet in the western entrance of the Pocosin Lakes NWR on Canal D Rd. at 9:30 AM sharp and spend 3 hours exploring this area.
For your safety and peace of mind, social distancing will be practiced throughout the duration of this trip.
