Overall, this is a great trip. I would recommend that the tour operator advise travelers to come in a day early since you are at altitude and having to get to airports two hours early for an international flight means a sleepless night before travel. They could build this into the tour.

I would highly recommend lcaro Birding. The tour was well organized with excellent guides. I enjoyed all parts of the tour but was especially impressed with the Caribbean Coast/Santa Marta Mtns portion of the tour. Spectacular scenery and lots of endemic birds! I was also extremely impressed with the tour owner/operator Giovani. He was very flexible in designing the tour and making adjustments to accommodate my schedule. In addition, communication was excellent with very quick replies to questions. And it was great that Giovani was available during the tour and clearly interested in the well-being of his clients and the high quality of their tour experience.

Just returned from my second birding trip with Icaro Birding in beautiful Colombia! Company owner Giovani Ortiz designed an excellent itinerary for our 12 day Epic Andes Birding Tour. Our amiable and knowledgeable tour guide Miguel Lopez made our journey easy and he graciously took care of all of our needs, finding our target birds and making sure everyone in the group got good looks at each bird we saw. Our amazing driver Mario is the best, was very attentive and we all enjoyed his company very much. Our accommodations were unique and excellent. Meals were delicious and plentiful. I highly recommend Icaro Birding for your next birding adventure! June Bernard Gibsonia, PA

The 12 day tour with Icaro Birding in Colombia was a cultural and nature tour, not birding. My friend and I really enjoyed the tour. The guides were excellent and the accommodations were very nice., generally either boutique hotels or comfortable country lodges. Several of our most enjoyable tour destinations were "off the beaten path", not listed or just mentioned in passing in the major travel guides. The company owner, Giovani, was very helpful in adjusting the trip to meet our requests for destinations and itinerary changes. Communication was great. Emails were answered quickly and Giovani kept in touch with us and the guides throughout the trip. I would highly recommend Icaro Birding!

Epic is an appropriate descriptor for this trip, the Andean landscape is truly stunning. Often above the clouds, with views down steep-sided valleys, it is also lushly green. With over 350 species of birds, many endemic or near-endemic, and occasional glimpses of other wildlife, it is a nature-lover's dream. The accommodations ranged from luxurious to rustic, but the people were universally friendly and welcoming. Icaro takes care of everything, from airport pick-up to drop-off at the end of the tour. The guide and driver were excellent. All around fantastic.
