      About this trip

El Camino de Santiago is an important medieval Christian pilgrimage dating back to the 9th century. Millions of people have travelled on foot to the sacred shrine of St James the Apostle. Today, pilgrims travel the Way with different motives — breaking away from the rat race, living an authentic moment, making time for mindful reflection.

On this carefully researched tour we trace back along the ancient route starting from the town of Santo Domingo de la Calzada we pass though the wine region of Rioja and the incredible cities of Burgos and Leon with their imposing Gothic Cathedrals.

We travel though the mesetas, on to the Bierzo region and into Galicia, from where it is just a few days more to arrive at the ancient Cathedral in Santiago — an unforgettable experience. Our Journey is not over yet, as on our last day we head to the coast of Finisterre, known as the end of the world, where strolling bare foot on the beach, you can collect a scallop shell, the symbol of the Camino, to take home as a memory.

We pace each day perfectly so that there is time for everyone to enjoy it and not feel under pressure. We encounter a variety of terrain from wide gravel paths, to narrow, rocky trails and gradients vary too. On our more strenuous tours, there are often two levels of the walk from which to choose. Some people walk at a faster pace while others like to chat or take photographs. Some people do well on the ups while others prefer the downs. You may be ahead on the trail in the morning and enjoying strolling at the back later on!

A fabulous trip which delved deep into the Andalucian culture and history which was fascinating. The local guides were amazing and gave us very personal insights into to the area. As with any Caspin trip, the support from Pino, Caroline and Antonia was first rate taking care of all our our needs. The combination of city tours interspersed with glorious country hikes through the varied landscapes of Spain made for new adventures daily! Definitely a 5 star experience in all respects!

Sicily with Caroline and Pino (Caspin Journeys) was the trip of a lifetime. The US marketing concept and value behind "buy local" was meant as a way to offer support and encouragement for local vendors, producers, and service staff. Caspin Journey lives this value, because of their decades-long relationships with the artisans, restaurateurs, hoteliers, and guides. Their good reputations in Sicily extended to us - their guests - as we were treated with the utmost respect, lavished with amazing food and accommodations, and learned about Sicilian history from well-educated, passionate guides. The hikes and related scenery were breathtaking and challenging, yet we were constantly encouraged, motivated, and safe as Pino and Caroline attended carefully to every need. These are two highly organized, thoughtful, and personable business owners who clearly saw us as more than customers. We were treated as family - and even met members of their family during the trip. We were also impressed with their interactions as married business owners who worked well together, complementing each others' knowledge and skills, with affection and respect. We are already planning for our next trip with Caspin Journeys and cannot wait to travel with our friends again and make new ones!

Pino and Caroline - thank you so so much again for orchestrating the trip of a lifetime for us all! The treasures of Sicily and her hidden gems that we would never have discovered on our own, were highlights for sure, but what stood out even more in terms of what will be treasured and remembered was the two of you - your warmth, engagement, enthusiasm, playful fun, and how you embraced us like family - that’s the treasured gift that stays with us! Thank you! 💕 Tom and Monica Osborne

It was just amazing to hike in such a wondrous place! The Dolomites were spectacular! Pino and Caroline arranged all the logistics to perfection. We stayed in lovely hotels, had wonderful meals featuring local specialties and wines, and the transportation to and from our hiking points and hotels was flawless. I truly appreciate all their attention to details and the care they took to make our trip unforgettable. As I do travel a lot, I most appreciate the fun and sense of adventure they brought to our group. We stay or dine in unique and interesting local places, getting a chance to meet owners or staff and learn more about the local culture. Pino and Caroline know about the history of the places we visited, so I was able to learn much from them. Everyone in our group made new friendship, supported each other and above all, had fun together! Thank you Pino and Caroline for an unforgettable trip!
