Welcome Exercises

We'll start with some introductions and get to know each other!  We'll cover the following topics during our first in-classroom day. 

Storytelling Workshop

Storytelling is everything. It's the art and skill of knowing how to deliver material in a way that makes a place come alive. Knowing how to begin, where to go, and when to end. Our methods are our pride and joy, and we share them with you on our trainings to put you above the rest.

Delivery Technique Practice   

We will learn to use our body to make money! That's right - the way you deliver a story is just as important as the content you deliver. We will learn to use body language and tone to maximize our storytelling abilities. There will be detailed instructions and assignments to master this technique! 

Mapping the Next Day

Begin learning various skills to map out the next day on the motorcoach. We will learn how to use Google Maps and other online platform to research, organize and plan for any trip we lead. 

City of Washington, DC Tour with stops built in along the way. Students will have a chance to practice delivery of prepared content. This is a big practice day as the final day it will be the students delivering the tour for real guests! 

Walking Tour Training

Learning how to lead a group through the streets, and project and lead confidently, are some of the most essential skills you'll need in this business.  We'll work with you to make sure you can handle these situations confidently, and share our methods for making your walks engaging for everyone, no matter the age. 

 Resume & Tools of the Trade

We'll work on resumes and other tools to market yourself like the Video Introduction. You will complete your video introduction and we will edit and publish it to get you ready to get hired! Photo shoot included! 

Itinerary 101

We'll walk you through a variety of technical itineraries you will see and cover how to read them and plan your day efficiently. Learn about the operational side of tour operators, from flights to vendors. It's important to understand how operations work from the office since you will be the one out on the road implementing all the components of the tour. 

Technology

We'll teach you best practices when using phone and web applications to collect and map your research, implement the use of tablets, wireless printers, custom movies, and A/V coach hookups to deliver an incredibly rich travel experience. We'll cover how to make videos for your coaches, games and power point presentations to complement your commentary!

Motorcoach Training

The bus is a basic tool of the trade, and often the main way you'll communicate to your guests. We'll help you learn to deliver great material and activities to make the time on the road a valuable part of the travel experience. We'll also cover practical things like bag pulls, seating rotations, parking, and navigating. 

Students will present topics at various locations.  

Today, students will have the opportunity to meet (virtually or in-person, depending on availability) hiring managers from various Tour Operators!

We'll celebrate our accomplishments at a Farewell Dinner! You did it! You are a real TripSchool Certified Tour Master! 

Today is your travel day to make your way home or stay and explore New Mexico on your own.
