We are so thankful for Landscape Tours, and specifically Alex (Alejandro) for our wonderful experience of hiking Acatenango. Although our family has had experience hiking, we are from the PNW and were unsure of how the elevation would affect us, especially after reading how strenuous the hike was! Alex met with us the day before and took the time to understand our family’s needs and concerns. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed to make the trip a success. Throughout the hike he was kind, patient, and understanding with both us and the kids. Alex was lovely to talk to and we all treasured his company. He educated us on the habitat, geography, history, and local culture of the area. The kids specifically enjoyed his brand of motivation as he kept their spirits high, joking with them and conversing. Once we reached base camp, Alex made us a wonderful meal and we were able to eat with him and our porter and enjoy an entertaining evening together. Obviously, we took this hike to see the wilderness and watch Fuego erupt. The volcano is quite breathtaking to behold. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say it was Alex that made the trip! He is someone who truly loves what he does, and it shows. I really appreciate the way he was able to ‘hold space’ for us during the trip. I wholeheartedly recommend Alex to anyone interested in a beautiful adventure. We hope to be able to come back someday to complete the Antigua to Atitlan hike with him.

We had a really wonderful time! Daniela was so easy to communicate with. She set up a great private guided tour of Pacaya. Our guide was phenomenal- so patient and helped my mother through all the difficult sections. Daniela also arranged for us to have lunch at a nearby restaurant, which was great because we didn't have to pack so many snacks and we didn't have to wait so long after an already long hike/day. The price was really reasonable and I would gladly book with them again anytime im in Guatemala.
