About this trip
Motorcoach tour of the race course narrated by historian and legendary course expert Tom Derderian.
Our motorcoach will depart the Residence Inn by Marriott Boston Cambridge on Saturday, April 13th, 2024 at 8:00 am. Please meet in the lobby at 7:30 am to check-in & board.
*The bus will drop off near the race expo.
The hotel address is: 120 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02142. The T-red line Kendall/MIT is just 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
- Enjoy 4 hours learning about iconic moments in Boston’s history, points along the marathon course, and tips for runners on race day.
- Stops include the original starting line, the current starting line, Ashland, Newton, and more!
- Drop off near the expo around noon (and public transportation options).
- The coach has air conditioning and bathroom onboard.
- DM hosts will provide snacks and bottled water.

Tom Derderian is a running success both on and off the roads. Derderian’s accomplishments include running in the Olympic trials in both 1972 and 1976, numerous New England road championships, and a 2:19:04 Boston Marathon in 1975. He is the executive producer of the Boston Marathon film, author of 3 books about the Boston Marathon. In addition, Tom has served as president for the USA Track and Field New England Association. Tom is a senior writer for New England Runner magazine and his have appeared in numerous running publications.

This was our first trip ever with a tour group and it was a delightful experience literally from start to finish. We had a little trouble (self induced) with the registration and Stacy and Mark were right on it. The accommodations were perfect (both legs) and the group events (walking tours, dinners, run events, etc.) were superb. Stacy's organizational and communication skills are outstanding and kept us angst-free. Our tour team of Dan, Campbell and Stacy were all helpful, friendly, thoughtful and just plain fun to hang with. We never regretted our trip or the decision to travel with Destination Marathons once!

It was not what I expected, I didn't expect to feel like a step-child compare to those staying in the Westin hotel. The host at the Palace Hotel, Fiona and another gal from England were really nice. Didn't see any US rep at all. All the text messages appears to be Westin runners prioritize. Perhaps they paid the higher price package. The Palace Hotel was the only option offered when I signed up in late May. The hotel was pretty nice. Breakfast was wonderful with many varieties. I wanted to add an additional room but was told the hotel is sold out. I ended up booking a suite directly with the hotel for my husband who decided to join me.

Hi Shan, Thanks for the feedback. Fiona was our US rep who has been with us for quite some time. The only package available when you booked was the Palace hotel which was essentials (less amenities and tours). Our team decided to include everyone at the Palace on the WhatsApp messages - though they would be geared toward the higher package at the Westin, it would still be relevant weekend information for the race. I appreciate your feedback and will share it with our leadership team.

If you're looking for a way to combine your love of running with an unforgettable travel experience, then look no further than Destination Marathons! I recently used their services for the London Marathon, and it was nothing short of exceptional.
From the very beginning, Destination Marathons took care of everything. Their friendly leadership team ensured a smooth and stress-free experience, always going the extra mile to make sure my stay was first-class. They handled all the logistics, from securing a coveted spectator spot to cheer on my Wife who ran in the London Marathon to booking my luxurious accommodation at the Sheraton Park Lane, right by Buckingham Palace!
The Sheraton itself was fantastic. The location couldn't have been better, putting us within walking distance of many iconic landmarks. But what truly elevated the trip was Destination Marathons' meticulously planned tours.
Hopping on the traditional red double-decker buses, we explored the best that London has to offer. From the historic London Tower and the captivating Tate Museum to the iconic London Bridge and the ever-present Big Ben, we saw it all. There's no way I could have packed so much sightseeing into my trip without their expert organization.
Thanks to Destination Marathons, We were able to focus on what mattered most – conquering the London Marathon!
