      About this trip

Summer 2023, Brown Girls Climbing is adventuring across the Pacific Ocean! The Annual Roadtrip Camp takes place in paradise on the Hawaiian Island of Maui. This epic 10-day trip offers a unique camp paradise experience, steps from the vibrant reef of Olowalu Beach, providing permission to rest, play and explore in the abundance beauty the island has to offer.

Our adventures include waterfall rappelling, catching waves in morning surfing sessions, coasting on a cruise ship to remote snorkel and explore underwater life; take the slide or dare a high dive from the cruise ship for added adventure! This is a full day of play and fun on the sea with friends. Our scenic hike through cratered terrain of the Haleakalā National Park will allow us to stand near the top off rainbows and catch clouds.  We will check out the 7 Pools of  ʻOheʻo and other amazing waterfalls each day.

Aloha your days at Camp Olowalu waking to the sounds of roosters. Make plans with a friend to share sunrise walk and join in daily yoga meditation on the beach to set the intentions for a radical day.  Cap of each evening with trip dairies and sharing new campfire memories before settling down with the sounds of coqui and ocean waves.  Standup paddleboards, kayaks, snorkels, fins hammocks and chairs are for use at camp anytime. Create your ultimate rest day, whether with friends at the beach or writing postcards from your hammock. Rest is joy on the island.

As visitors of this sacred place, we commit a day of volunteer practice in service for the island and its people. With opportunity to respectfully learn the Hawaiian culture, we'll observe indigenous temples, known as heiau, and the few remaining archaeological relics in historical sites of Kahanu Gardens and Haleki’i-Pihana Heiau State Monument.  Learning about the climate, crops, farming and staples of island life is a wholistic part of this experience. Daily meals of fresh local fruits and breads, visits to open air markets, a couple lunch experiences at delicious food trucks and a Cacao Farm Tour & Tasting will be a valuable addition to the Annual Chopped Championship.

This is just a start of our journey to explore the world together
