During this 6-day/5-night retreat you'll drop into a slower pace of life to tune into a deeper feeling of nourishment and connection. As you settle into the beauty of the natural surroundings, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, you’ll explore the practices of yoga through hatha, meditation, and philosophy. You’ll also delve into the practices of yin, pranayama, and ayurveda.
Taking this time to immerse yourself in the wisdom of yoga practices while exploring the natural reserve and Spanish culture will leave you feeling awakened, revitalized and refreshed.
The retreat center is located in the middle of a UNESCO natural reserve known for some of the best hiking in the Andulacian region of Spain (as reported by the BBC). The Casa Grazelema estate is a sprawling center with comfortable accommodations, five swimming pools, hiking trails all around, and 25,000 square meters of garden.
Everyday during the retreat you will have access to two yoga classes — one in the morning to energize you for the day and one in the late afternoon to deeply relax your body and mind. The retreat will also include wholistic workshops on yoga psychology, and Ayurveda where we’ll talk philosophy, practice, and integration.
The retreat also includes three distinct excursions:
1. Guided Hiking trip through the Mirador, los Pueblos blancos (the white villages) and the Village of El Gastor
2. Traditional Spanish Paella dinner and flamenco show in the majestic city of Ronda
3. Trip to Zahara de la Sierra where you will visit an olive oil factory and hike to the Castle
Research has shown that when we spend time on retreat, in meditation and practicing yoga, the grey matter in the brain changes, and habits formed while on retreat are more likely to sustain upon returning home. Developing a broader understanding of yoga and how it can be practiced everyday, will provide you with the tools for incorporating yoga more fully into your lifestyle to maintain this yogic state-of-mind.
